Work smarter, not harder.

Summer is (almost!) here, and I’ve spent the last couple of weeks transitioning my closet for the new season. What started as a closet cleanout and reorganization mission evolved into a thoughtful evaluation of everything I own—and what holes needed to be filled. With limited storage space, it became clear that every piece I purchased needed to be multi-wear, functional, and a true ten-out-of-ten. Working in fashion, it can also be tempting to overconsume, so I’ve realigned my priorities to build a summer capsule wardrobe that brings intention to my wardrobe

After a huge purge, the coats and boots have made their way to the back of the closet, and I’ve built a 10-piece summer capsule wardrobe full of linen, wovens, and sandals that has taken center stage. I think I’ve finally cracked the code to effortlessly chic summer dressing. The secret? Less truly is more.

The Summer Capsule Wardrobe Checklist

Find out exactly what you need for your summer capsule wardrobe below, and allow your closet to work smarter, not harder in summer 2025.

 1. Simple Sundress
 2. Lightweight Top
 3. Breezy Bottom
 4. Non-Denim Shorts & Skirt
 5. Layering Tee & Tank
 6. White Denim
 7. Everyday Sunglasses
 8. Summery Sandals
 9. Seasonal Straw Bag
 10. Protective Sun Hat

Simple Sundress

For all of the minimalists out there, a solid sundress can be a summer capsule wardrobe in and of itself. A sundress is a one-and-done outfit, is easy to pack on vacation, and keeps you cool while looking effortless. This summer, I’m looking for midi-to-full length sundresses that I can pair with sandals, sneakers, or heels, depending on where I’m headed. I love styling summer sundresses with a statement belt and a thin knit draped over my shoulders to add a bit of depth to the look.

Lightweight Tops

I grew up in Texas, and one of the most difficult things about summer shopping is finding tops that are breathable enough to wear in peak heat. Even though I now live in Los Angeles, I still gravitate toward sleeveless vests, breezy button-downs, and girly blouses that don’t leave me in a puddle of sweat.

Brands like DÔEN, Reformation, and The Great have lots of lightweight and flowy tops that I love to style with denim, linen, and silk all summer long. My favorite top in my summer capsule wardrobe is my linen vest from DISSH, as it’s as cool as a tank top, but feels a little more styled and chic.

Breezy Bottoms

Although I still wear jeans all year round, I’ve been looking to expand my selection of pants with linen and silk pairs for summer. I’ve found that these airy alternatives are not only more comfortable and breathable but exude the laid-back energy that I’m trying to channel this year. (Plus, nothing is worse than a tight pair of jeans on a summer sunburn.) Investing in a trusty pair of white linen pants will be the best thing you can do for yourself this summer. This is the definition of working smarter, not harder—these pants will match every top in your closet.

Non-Denim Shorts & Skirts

While there is nothing wrong with denim shorts and skirts, I personally find them uncomfortable. I know that might be a hot take, but I don’t think I’ve worn my denim shorts in over a year. Instead, I gravitate toward flowy shorts and skirts that aren’t too short or too tight. I find that the more a-line shape a pair of shorts or a skirt has, the more flattering they are on the leg. This year, I’m filling this slot in my summer capsule wardrobe with longer, more tailored shorts and full-length linen skirts.

Layering Tees & Tanks

Every good summer capsule wardrobe starts with one-to-two layering bases. My requirements for layering tees and tanks are that they are long enough to tuck in, are not too tight around my arms, and are thick enough not to show my bra underneath. Once you find a good white or black tee/tank, the outfit possibilities are endless. If you’re looking for a foolproof summer outfit formula, pair one of these white tanks or tees with linen pants, a comfy sandal, a sweater draped over your shoulders, and a raffia bag. Sometimes, simpler is simply better.

White Denim

One of my favorite summer style trends is an all-white look. I’m a sucker for white jeans and a white top with a pop-of-color shoe and bag, so finding a reliable pair of white denim jeans is essential for my summer capsule wardrobe. You can’t go wrong with any cut of white denim, as this is a classic trend that will never go out of style. White denim overalls are also a great summer purchase to style over a white tee or a bikini at the beach. Bonus points for rewearing these pieces into fall and winter—we love a winter white!

Summery Sandals

Summer is the season of sandals, so say goodbye to your favorite boots and hello to biweekly pedicures! Whether you lean toward basic dad sandals or sexy strappy numbers, your choice in sandal should be neutral, comfortable, and durable. It’s easy to be woo-ed by trendy shoes, but a true summer capsule wardrobe sandal is timeless and versatile enough to pair with every item on this list. I look for sandals that are easy to slip on and off for beach days and grassy picnics, and lay flat in a suitcase for all of my summer adventures.

Seasonal Straw Bags

Perhaps my favorite part about summer rolling around is dusting off my woven raffia and straw bags to style all season long. Though this material will be forever reminiscent of my mom’s beach bag growing up, I love that designers have been using raffia in more modern, structured designs, giving the look a laid-back but still trendy feel. Plus, straw is a neutral, so it will match and add a seasonal flare to every outfit you create with this summer capsule wardrobe. From the farmer’s market to the beach and out to dinner, these bags can truly do (and hold) it all.

Protective Sun Hats

When I envision summer chicness, every look is topped off with the perfect floppy sun hat. There’s just something so opulent about a big hat and dark sunglasses that takes a basic summer outfit from simple to sexy. It’s also as functional as it is fashionable, protecting your skin during the sunny days ahead. I’m on the hunt for the perfect neutral raffia sun hat to wear at the beach with bikinis, on long walks in activewear, and everywhere in between. If a full-brim hat isn’t your style, a classic baseball hat adds a cool-girl touch to the summer capsule wardrobe while still covering your face, too.

Everyday Sunglasses

I like to think of sunglasses as the cherry on top of a summer capsule wardrobe: not entirely essential, but a small finishing touch that goes a long way. I went through a phase of purchasing multiple trendy, colorful sunglasses, but after having to pack four pairs of glasses for a three-day trip, I finally said enough is enough and found a well-fitting, neutral pair that goes with everything. Sunglasses also have a tendency to get left on the dinner table or swept into the ocean, so don’t feel like you have to spend a pretty penny on this element of your summer capsule wardrobe. A designer pair of sunglasses is always a fun splurge, but more affordable pairs earn just as many compliments minus the price tag.

Wardrobe Inspo Ahead: 10 Spring Outfits You Can Recreate Right Now https://camillestyles.com/style/spring-outfit-ideas/ https://camillestyles.com/style/spring-outfit-ideas/#respond Fri, 18 Apr 2025 10:00:00 +0000 https://camillestyles.com/?p=293579

No shopping, no problem.

The post Wardrobe Inspo Ahead: 10 Spring Outfits You Can Recreate Right Now appeared first on Camille Styles.

Spring is in the air, and so are fresh spring outfit ideas. But here’s the catch: I’m currently under a very real, self-imposed “no shopping” mandate until I tackle a long-overdue closet clean-out. As someone who loves to shop and will justify a new purchase for literally any occasion (Easter brunch at home? Sure, I need a new dress!), this has taken some serious willpower.

To satisfy the urge to refresh my wardrobe without spending, I’ve turned to Pinterest—not to shop, but to get inspired. What I’ve found is that, sometimes, the most stylish looks aren’t about wearing something new, but about styling what you already have in a fresh, creative way. So rather than adding to cart, I’m scrolling for outfit formulas I can recreate using the staples that are already in my wardrobe.

If you’re ready to welcome spring into your wardrobe—without diving into a shopping spree—I’ve rounded up the 10 spring outfit ideas that gave my closet a fresh new feeling. They say what you water will grow, and the same goes for your closet: A little love, attention, and styling inspiration can make your wardrobe bloom in ways you’d never expect!

10 Spring Outfit Ideas to Recreate From Your Closet

The Formula: Linen Skirt + Sweater

This spring outfit idea may be built on a simple formula, but the end result feels effortlessly chic and put-together. The combination of the soft tan sweater and crisp white linen strikes the perfect balance of relaxed and refined, while the bold contrast of the black flip flops and black purse adds a touch of sophistication. The gold bangle over the sweater, almost blending in, adds a subtle yet thoughtful detail that enhances the overall look.

Shop your closet or shop here:

The Formula: Neutral Base + Scarf “Belt”

This look is a perfect example of styling pieces you already own in fresh, creative ways for spring. The scarf, cleverly repurposed as a belt/ skirt, adds a vibrant pop of color and texture to a simple neutral base. With a nod to maximalist fashion, the combination of a bold scarf, playful purse, and statement necklace elevates the classic, comfy white pants and tank from basic to eye-catching.

Shop your closet or shop here:

The Formula: Denim Button Down + Patterned Mini Skirt

While I’ll always love a classic Canadian tuxedo, this outfit has me excited to get creative with styling my oversized denim button-down. The combination of the structured, utilitarian shirt with the feminine, patterned mini skirt feels like the perfect spring mix of casual and chic. I love how the black accents from the skirt are seamlessly carried through to the kitten heels, purse, and sunglasses—bringing the entire look together in a way that feels effortlessly pulled-together.

Shop your closet or shop here:

The Foruma: Trench Coat + Athletic Shorts

One of my favorite spring outfit ideas is elevated athleisure, and I love the way that a trench coat elevates a workout outfit. After cold winter months spent living in sweats, I’m excited to “dress up” my everyday looks, and adding a classic trench is the perfect way to do it. I feel like this is what Rachel Green would wear on her way back from the gym—the pop of red from the shorts and high socks brings in a vintage vibe that’s both stylish and sophisticated.

Shop your closet or shop here:

The Formula: Frilly Top + Long Denim Shorts

I’ll be the first to admit that I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with my long denim shorts, but this outfit has me rethinking how to style them. Pairing the more masculine vibe of denim shorts with a super feminine, frilly top strikes a perfect balance that feels both unexpected and effortless. The addition of rain boots elevates the look even further, creating that carefree, countryside charm that’s equal parts practical and stylish.

Shop your closet or shop here:

The Formula: White Tank + Oversized Button Down

The key to successful spring dressing is mastering the art of layering. With warmer days and cooler nights, having an outfit that works for both is a must. In the look above, I love how a simple button-down shirt is styled open as a lightweight jacket, effortlessly thrown over a tank top. This styling trick not only adds a chic, elevated touch but also makes the outfit more versatile and adaptable to temperature. I’m excited to use this hack all spring, layering it over tanks, graphic tees, and sundresses.

Shop your closet or shop here:

The Formula: Colored Maxi Skirt + Oversized Tee

If a European spring or summer is calling your name, this look is one to save. It’s the kind of outfit that makes travel dressing feel effortless—comfortable, versatile, and easy to pack. I love how the soft femininity of the yellow slip skirt is balanced by the laid-back oversized tee and slouchy bag. Though yellow flip flops are a fun styling choice that ties it all together, I guarantee you have just about everything else you need to recreate a similar look in your own closet.

Shop your closet or shop here:

The Formula: Vintage Overalls + White Tank

There’s something about this outfit that just clicked for me. Overalls have always been a favorite for their throw-on-and-go ease, but this all-white version paired with a simple tank feels especially fresh for spring. It’s minimal without being boring, effortless yet pulled together, and incredibly comfortable for days on the move. A variation of this look has quickly become my go-to spring outfit idea when I want to feel relaxed but still look like I tried.

Shop your closet or shop here:

The Formula: Lace Skirt + Oversized Button Down

Remember that button down you so effortlessly styled over a tank? This spring outfit idea takes the same staple and styles it buttoned over a sheer lace maxi skirt and kitten heels–a combo that feels equal parts sexy and casual. I’m loving how these lace skirts are having a moment right now. While they’re definitely a statement, they’re surprisingly versatile: style as seen above, pair with white boy shorts and a white tee, or throw it on as a swim coverup. It’s an easy go-to for those warm spring days when you want to stay cool without showing it all.

Shop your closet or shop here:

The Formula: Baseball Hat + Cardigan

There’s something undeniably cool about a baseball hat styled up, and spring outfit ideas like this nail that effortless feel. I love how the black cardigan, with its dramatic wide sleeves, adds an edge to an otherwise neutral white base. It’s the kind of look that feels laid-back but intentional—perfect for a quick coffee run when you want to feel comfy but still pulled together.

Bonus: The baseball hat not only elevates the whole outfit but keeps your skin protected in the spring sun. Before adding one to your cart, check the back of your closet—vintage is in, after all!

How to Dress Like a Maximalist—Even If You’re a Minimalist https://camillestyles.com/style/fashion/maximalist-fashion/ https://camillestyles.com/style/fashion/maximalist-fashion/#respond Tue, 08 Apr 2025 10:00:00 +0000 https://camillestyles.com/?p=292808

Express yourself unapologetically.

The post How to Dress Like a Maximalist—Even If You’re a Minimalist appeared first on Camille Styles.

While quiet luxury has dominated fashion for the past few seasons, maximalist fashion (finally) is making its comeback. I’ve never been one for minimalism, and this playful trend is all about having fun with styling, embracing bold colors, and layering with confidence. Instead of wondering whether your outfit has too much going on, maximalism says to go ahead and add that extra accessory, texture, or color. More is more, and the goal is to express yourself unapologetically—which has become my fashion mantra this spring.

What is maximalist fashion?

Have you ever stopped mid-scroll just to take in someone’s outfit? The kind of look where every element seems unexpected, yet somehow, it’s absolute perfection? That’s the magic of maximalist fashion—where bold choices, playful layering, and statement pieces come together to create something that’s anything but ordinary.

At its core, maximalist fashion is about embracing bold expression and layering with intention. Instead of relying on a single statement piece in an otherwise minimal outfit, maximalism celebrates multiple elements working together, like vibrant colors, rich textures, eclectic patterns, and unique accessories.

A common styling approach is pairing a neutral base with a pop of color, but maximalism challenges that idea, proving that there’s room for multiple colors, prints, and textures in a single outfit. The rule of thumb? If you’re debating whether to add a belt, layer on another necklace, or throw on a patterned scarf—the answer is always yes. Thoughtful details make the look.

How to Dress Like a Maximalist—Even If You’re a Minimalist

If the idea of crazy prints and bright colors feels intimidating, don’t worry—maximalism isn’t just about loud colors. It’s about creating depth, playing with layers, and making your outfit feel intentional and expressive.

Here’s how to incorporate the maximalist fashion mindset while still staying true to your personal style:

 1. Bold Colors & Prints. Clashing patterns and playful, contrasting colors create an outfit that feels dynamic and fresh. If head-to-toe color isn’t your thing, start with one bold accessory or a patterned statement piece.
 2. Layering & Texture Mixing. Combine different materials like silk and leather or sequins and knits to add dimension to your look. Even a monochrome outfit can feel maximalist when styled with layers and mixed textures.
 3. Statement Accessories. Oversized sunglasses, chunky jewelry, and embellished handbags instantly elevate an outfit. Even if your clothing is simple, accessories can bring the maximalist energy.

Maximalism isn’t about looking over-the-top. It’s about making sure every detail of your outfit is thoughtful and expressive. Whether you go full-on bold or ease in with accessories, embracing the more is more approach can make fashion feel fun and personal.

Hadley Greene is the queen of effortless maximalism. She coined the phrase “simple doesn’t need to be boring” on TikTok, and her outfits prove exactly that. Even her most pared-down looks have an unexpected element that grabs my attention—whether it’s a statement bag or a bold earring stack paired with neutrals, or a head-to-toe patterned ensemble that somehow feels natural. Every outfit she puts together is undeniably her: bold yet wearable, over-the-top yet never forced. Her take on maximalism works so well because it isn’t just a trend—it’s an authentic extension of her personal style.

Here’s a perfect example of neutral maximalist fashion done right. Rocky Barnes, known for her signature necklace stacks and enviable sunglass collection, proves that when it comes to accessorizing, more really is more. This look instantly grabs attention with its mix of textures—snakeskin, an embellished bag, and layered jewelry—but once you shift your mindset and treat animal print as a neutral, the outfit feels completely wearable. Plus, since it sticks to a classic black, white, and gray palette, it’s an easy formula to follow if you’re looking to ease into maximalism without diving straight into bold colors.

To the untrained eye, this outfit might seem over-the-top, but for me, it’s exactly the kind of look that makes spring and summer dressing so exciting. Every piece—the patterned pants, bold top, colorful shoes, color-blocked bag, and crochet beanie—could be a statement on its own, yet they come together seamlessly thanks to a cohesive color palette. The way the green carries through from the hat to the shoes ties everything together, making an unexpected combination feel intentional. Though this specific hat might not be the most wearable, a hat is an easy add-on that brings a lot of attention to an outfit. The key to pulling off a look like this is definitely confidence, so don’t be afraid to start small!

If bold and bright color-blocking isn’t your style, you can still embrace maximalism in a more understated way. This monochrome look is a perfect example, proving that texture can be just as impactful as color. The mix of patent leather, knit, and woven details adds depth and dimension, making an all-burgundy outfit feel anything but flat. The subtle snakeskin accent on the shoes is the perfect finishing touch—adding just enough contrast without overwhelming the palette. This spring, I plan to take inspiration from this formula, experimenting with linens, knits, and cottons for a fresh yet dimensional feel.

Another more wearable approach to maximalist fashion, I love how Jules Fox elevated a simple white tee. Many would pair it with the zebra skirt and ballet flats and call it a day, but the rope belt and pearl anklet add a fresh, on-trend twist that makes the outfit feel both seasonal and impactful. Layered necklaces and stacked earrings bring in even more personality, proving that even the simplest looks can have depth. This is the perfect reminder that embracing maximalism doesn’t have to mean going overboard—just a couple of intentional details can completely transform an outfit.

Most people instinctively balance a bold piece with something neutral—pairing patterned pants with a solid top or a statement top with simple jeans. But maximalism embraces the unexpected, proving that a standout top and eye-catching pants can be the perfect match. The fringe top and patterned pants work seamlessly because they share a common color, creating harmony within the contrast. It’s the kind of styling that challenges the way you see your own wardrobe, encouraging you to notice subtle color connections and experiment with pairings you might not have considered before.

This look is a perfect example of how maximalist fashion thrives on bold pairings. Both the skirt and boots could easily be the focal point of an outfit on their own, but together, they create an eye-catching combination that just works. The white tank acts as the perfect neutral base, letting the mix of textures—cotton, leather, and sequins—shine. Plus, the pink and green color pairing feels fresh and playful for spring, making the outfit even more on-trend.

If you’re still not sold on maximalism, here’s a neutral take that feels understated, yet far from boring. The more you analyze this look, the more there is to appreciate—the blend of textures, from corduroy pants to a knit sweater, felt scarf, and suede bag, subtly enhances the outfit without overpowering it. The real standout detail? The swirl brooch. Not only does it add a unique, personal touch, but it also serves a functional purpose by securing the scarf in place—proof that maximalism is just as much about thoughtful and intentional styling as it is about bold choices.

Why Loungewear Doesn’t Cut It in Europe (And What to Wear Instead) https://camillestyles.com/style/fashion/2-week-carry-on-packing-list/ https://camillestyles.com/style/fashion/2-week-carry-on-packing-list/#respond Mon, 07 Apr 2025 12:00:00 +0000 https://camillestyles.com/?p=227770

Mastering European street style.

The post Why Loungewear Doesn’t Cut It in Europe (And What to Wear Instead) appeared first on Camille Styles.

]]>

As an American, traveling to Europe is nothing short of a revelation. While we may marvel at New England buildings and landmarks that date back to the early 1600s, European architecture and history transports us to what feels like another world—and in many respects, it is. One of the ways I anticipated that difference as I planned my two-week carry-on packing list for my trip to Paris and London last month? The fashion.

Having lived in Paris for a year prior, I anticipated many of the sartorial choices that would peg me as an American immediately. Whereas in Chicago I can comfortably—some may even say, stylishly—sport my sweatsuit to my neighborhood coffee shop, loungewear in Europe is reserved for the home.

But having recently entered my *maximalist* era, where color and pattern reign supreme, I was a bit out of practice when it came to dressing as the Europeans do. Thankfully, with time to strategize, I knew exactly what to take and what to leave behind for my two-week trip in a single carry-on.

Light layers, monochromatic color palettes—and most importantly: prioritizing comfort. Because when you’re in Europe, you’re going to walk. A lot.

Featured image from our interview with Janessa Leoné by Teal Thomsen.

The Strategy

It had been seven years since I lived in Europe, so there was a lot riding on this return trip. Would I connect with the cities’ busy, winding streets as I once had? Would I be able to navigate the metro system with familiar ease? Had too much time passed for me to expect to feel any of this at all? Of course, with so much anticipation, I wanted what I packed to be a source of comfort, inspiration, and fun.

Because here’s the truth about getting dressed in Europe. While neutrals and darker colors may be the go-to choice, style is also a source of personal expression. There is a uniform, sure—a sea of navy, black, and white—but within this template can be found idiosyncrasies particular to the wearer themselves. An embellished pin on a lapel, a bright scarf tied around a bag, or a pair of glasses that make contacts irrelevant.

When it comes down to it, if you own who you are and your style reflects that, you’ll fit right in. Why sweatpants don’t work in Europe? Because there isn’t intention behind the choice.

Packing Parameters

In addition to exploring my own style and tailoring it to a European landscape, I had a few parameters that dictated my packing:

 • I would be traveling between London and Paris for almost two weeks: March 13-26.
 • There was rain in the forecast and temperatures were predicted to fall in the high 40s/low 50s.
 • The majority of my trip would be spent visiting museums, shopping, eating out, and of course, walking a ton.

With these constraints in mind, these were my top three priorities when planning my two-week carry-on packing list:

 • Prioritize light layers that pack well. I opted for many silk tank tops, skirts, and dresses that could be layered underneath sweaters in the daytime and worn with a wrap at dinner.
 • Pack shoes that could be worn in multiple contexts. I brought a pair of Chelsea-style boots, sneakers, and comfy clogs that were all easy to walk in.
 • Minimize bulky items. I packed a light puffer that could be squashed down in my suitcase, two sweaters, and a cashmere wrap that doubled as a scarf.

The Suitcase That Changed My Life

I’m someone who prefers to travel light. Not only do I not have to worry about additional luggage charges, but it makes going from plane to train to in-city transit easier. And while the suitcase has been lauded from just about every corner of the internet, I’m here to confirm: My Away suitcase has changed the way I travel. I purchased mine two years ago and it’s been everywhere with me.

What’s great:

 • One side features an interior compression system. This is typically where I pack my bulkier items—jackets, shoes, etc. You can clip it down and tighten the straps to fit way more than you thought possible.
 • For longer trips, I always fill mine to the brim. But no matter how much I pack, the suitcase always feels lightweight due to its even distribution of weight.
 • When you’re running through the airport to catch a connecting flight, you’ll love the 360° wheels that never (ever!) get jammed. When I had 10 minutes to make it across the Reykjavík airport, this was clutch.

What’s not:

 • While the suitcase can fit in the overhead bin of most airlines, you may have to check it on smaller or full flights.

My Two-Week Carry-On Packing List

Without further ado, I’m sharing the 10 essentials that made packing a carry-on for two weeks in Europe easy and streamlined. Trust me, this is all you need for the ultimate European spring vacay.

Isabelle Eyman Black Tote Bag

A Roomy Tote (Maximize Your Personal Item!)

Let’s kick things off with a bang. No matter how much you prepare in advance, the unexpected can always occur. For me, that came in the form of boarding a super-packed flight from Chicago to London and having to check my bag. And then… proceeding to have that bag lost for three days. Thankfully, I could steal from my stylish best friend’s closet. But this is your sign to maximize your personal item. Though I’ve been through several iterations, I’ve carried a trusty black tote for years that can fit my laptop, a book, toiletries, and an additional outfit/pajamas so that I can feel a little prepped should the worst occur.

Travel tip: Though I say maximize, you want to be sure you won’t end up hurting yourself lugging your bag around on one shoulder. Keep your extra outfit lightweight and pack only the necessary toiletries: a toothbrush, hairbrush, cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF. If you want to add a little makeup to the mix, keep it streamlined with this glowy set and mascara.

A Light Puffer

On multiple occasions as I was packing, I asked myself: Why didn’t I book my trip for late spring/early summer? That way, I could avoid the need to pack heavier layers like a coat. Well, with these tickets booked for months, there was no turning back—and I knew I needed something to keep me warm on London and Paris’ inevitable windy and blustery days. Enter: a lightweight puffer that packs down to a fraction of its size. It kept me cozy without feeling like I was prepping for the tundra.

Travel tip: Whether I’m in Europe or the States, I always opt for black or navy outerwear. That way, no matter the outfit, my topper will always pair perfectly.

A Versatile Skirt

Washable silk is having a moment and I couldn’t be happier. Not only do silk pieces look and feel totally luxe, but they take up minimal space in your suitcase. Trust me, it’s my go-to fabric for transitional wear as it takes you seamlessly from winter to spring. This was the skirt that I packed in my personal item, and I couldn’t have been more grateful for the forethought. I also love the drape midi skirt from Love, Bonito below—it’s the perfect combination of comfy and unbelievably flattering.

Travel tip: Pair with a silk cami, a simple white tee, or an oversized button-down. Outfit, made.

A Comfy, Flattering Pant

A disclaimer: I am not a hard-pants girl. You can catch me wearing jeans maybe 10 days out of the year, and even then, they’re oversized mom jeans. Point is, when it comes to pants, comfort is key—but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style or fit. I scored these pants (with an elastic waist!) for $70 five years ago from a vintage store in Portland. And if we’ve hung out at least twice, it’s likely you’ve seen me wearing them. No matter what cut is in style, I find that a cropped, wide-leg pant is universally flattering.

Travel tip: Because I’m petite, I like to pair these pants with a small heel so they don’t overwhelm my frame. Whether you go for clogs, sandals, or boots, adding height is key.

Reusable Bags (That Even Parisians Like)

No matter what shifting trends convince us to wear, BAGGU bags will forever stay in style. At home, I love using these to carry my groceries and I always keep at least one in my purse in case something cute catches my eye. While I was traveling, I stored one of these bags in my fanny pack to carry purchases and any layers I needed to take off. And I kid you not, my bag received no less than ten compliments from Parisians. That’s when it clicked for me: Even if the French often gravitate toward darker colors in the city, the love and passion for color is undeniably present. For proof, even Merci—the famed department store—curated a collection based on the collective love of brightness.

Travel tip: If you’re checking a bag, store one or two of these in your carry-on or personal item. That way, if your bag is over the weight limit, you have extra room to pull a few things out.

Isabelle Eyman cashmere wrap

A Does-It-All Cashmere Wrap

As a Christmas present a few years back, my mom gifted me this cashmere wrap that I’ve hardly taken off since. While it’s less of a style in America, many European women drape their scarves and shawls around their bodies for an added layer. On many an occasion, my Parisian travel companion and I had to run to make our dinner reservations. Without time to change, I simply pulled off my jacket and wrapped myself in cashmere. Easy and oh-so-elegant.

Travel tip: Use your wrap as a blanket to keep you warm on the plane.

Day-to-Night Dresses

I wear dresses year-round. In the winter, you can catch me with a made-for-spring frock layered over tights and beneath my coziest sweaters. The look feels feminine and stylish, while also being undeniably comfortable. It’s just one of the many ways I like to romanticize my work-from-home life. Similar to my silk skirts, these dresses packed down to nothing (so I didn’t have to make the hard decision as to which of my faves would get left behind). Of course, when you plan ahead with layers, you can take this look from day to night with seamless ease.

Travel tip: Pair with tights, a sweater, and dress-down boots for the perfect daytime ‘fit.

A Structured Blazer

A well-fitting blazer is as timeless as it gets. When you want something a little more elegant than a loose-fitting sweater, a black blazer is a simple layer that’s both functional and stylish. The goal here is to go slightly oversized. That way, should you need to add a layer beneath, you’re all set.

Travel tip: This will quickly become one of the key pieces in your wardrobe, so you want something soft but structured. And though the price tag may be on the steeper side, if we’re talking cost-per-wear, it’s worth it.

Isabelle Eyman silk tank

Silk Tanks

Let me count the ways I love this cami. Well, for insight, the skirt pictured above was my friend’s and this is me rounding out day two of this trip’s suitcase-less beginning. But with my black cami at the ready, I could pair it with just about anything in her closet. Whether it’s pants or a skirt, silk tanks and camis are a universally elegant choice.

Travel tip: As with everything on this list, we’re going for comfort. Your cami should rival your softest, most well-loved tee. If it’s at all less cozy, it doesn’t belong in your suitcase. (Or closet, for that matter.)

A Hands-Free Bag

I initially purchased this bag in the summer of 2020, when I only had walks and hikes to entertain me. It was perfect for carrying my wallet, phone, a pair of sunglasses, and another Baggu just in case. Since then, it’s become my everyday bag thanks to the ease of wear and the simple fact that I hate having anything in my hands when I’m out and about (save for a Berthillon ice cream cone, of course). Bonus: While you’ll have to turn your backpack around and wear it on the front of your body if you bring it into a museum, this bag already has you covered.

Travel tip: I learned the hard way that whatever you do, in London DO NOT refer to this as a fanny pack. “Bag” or “satchel” works perfectly fine. For insights, read Merriam-Webster’s take.

I once listened to an interview with a fashion entrepreneur, in which she shared that her early closet was a chaotic mix of fast fashion and impulse buys—she even joked it looked like someone had “thrown up” in it. Everything changed when she asked, “Who do I want to show up as in the world?” That question shaped her timeless, sophisticated personal style.

I love this idea of curating our wardrobes with intention. Each year, I reflect on my goals—so why not do the same for my style? Embracing a capsule wardrobe feels like the perfect way to align my look with who I’m becoming. The right outfit can make me feel confident, calm, or bold, depending on the occasion. As the season shifts, I’m considering how my wardrobe evolves right along with me.

camille styles outfit vision board

Create a Personal Style Vision Board

These are a few prompts that help guide my style evolution:

 • Which looks feel most like me right now?
 • What pieces do I reach for over and over?
 • How do I want to refine my wardrobe this year?

To answer these, I spent an evening curled up on the couch creating my style mood board for the year (pictured above.) I started by searching Pinterest for looks that resonated with me and pinned them to my 2025 Personal Style board. Then I organized my favorites in Canva to create a cohesive vision for the year. The goal? To uncover patterns and themes in what I’m gravitating towards. This year, that means a color palette anchored in camel, cream, navy, and black, plus boxy tees, oversized button-downs, tailored trousers, and classic sweaters.

After curating my visual inspiration, I identify a few words that capture the essence of my style. These act as my north star when I’m building outfits. For 2025, my words are: refined, effortless, sporty. Every time I consider a new purchase, I’ll hold it up against these words to stay true to my vision (and avoid impulse buys that don’t align).

Shop Your Closet First

The next step? Shopping my own closet. I believe in slowly building a wardrobe over time that can evolve along with me, rather than starting from scratch each season. By identifying what I already own that reflects my vision, I can bring my mood board to life without feeling the need to constantly buy more. And when I do add something new, it’s with purpose.

My 35 Wardrobe Essentials

To illustrate the process (and provide some inspo if you’re into my style direction), here are the essential items I build my wardrobe around. Think of it as a capsule wardrobe of timeless, versatile staples—pieces that feel most me and save me from those “I have nothing to wear” moments.

Keep reading for:

 • A button-down I own in multiple colors
 • The most flattering jeans on the planet
 • My desert-island sneakers
 • My first-ever “investment piece” that I still love
 • What I wear to work out in almost daily
camille styles' pants_capsule wardrobe 2025

PANTS

 • Madewell Superwide-Leg Jeans: These were the jeans that converted me to wide-legs. They’re super comfy but also really long, so I can wear them out to dinner with a stacked boot and blazer.
 • RE/DONE 90s High Rise Loose Jeans: Vintage-inspired with a modern fit, these jeans are effortlessly cool and endlessly versatile. I wear them most often with a sneaker and sweatshirt.
 • Khaite Danielle Jean: As discussed here, these are an investment piece and by far the most expensive jeans I’ve ever purchased. That said, the incredibly flattering high-rise and structured denim make these luxurious enough to be worth it.
 • Aritzia The Effortless Pant: I have these in three colors, and they’ve become what I reach for when I need to look put together with minimal effort.
 • Spanx Ponte Flare Pant: I bought these very randomly and they ended up being the most flattering pants I own. They’re really supportive and make your legs look a mile long, which is why they’ve become my go-to date night look.

SHORT-SLEEVE TOPS

sweaters and long sleeve tops_capsule wardrobe 2025

LONG-SLEEVE TOPS

 • Sezane Max Shirt: This is my official uniform. The crisp white button-down was my gateway drug that soon led to the blue ecru striped… and then the denim. Which do I need next?
 • Haven Well Within Shaker Stitch Cardigan: Cozy, textured, and made for weekend lounging or WFH days.
 • Sezane Trudy Jumper: I love a striped sweater, and this is a classic version with total French girl vibes.

OUTERWEAR

Cuyana Wool Cashmere Sweater Coat: A wool coat is the best investment piece, and this one is luxuriously soft for a sophisticated layer. I just took it to Paris and it worked for every occasion.

Sezane Christie Jacket: A structured, soft blazer that instantly elevates a white t-shirt. I ordered a size up for a boxy oversized fit.

Aritzia The Super Puff Shorty: If you’re thinking of splurging on a Canada Goose puffer, stop and get this $235 version instead. Everything from the length to the material is absolute perfection.

Sezane Scott Trench Coat: I’ve worn this timeless trench for years—it’s the quickest way to pull together any outfit, from dresses to sweats.

ACTIVEWEAR

 • Alo 7/8 High-Waist Airlift Legging: Sculpting and so supportive, these leggings move seamlessly from workout to errands.
 • Form Scoop Bra: This is my go-to sports bra with the perfect mix of support and comfort. I have it in 3 colors and wear it daily for morning workouts. I love Form’s leggings, too.
 • Varley Catherine Half-Zip: I always go for the preppy vibes of a half-zip pullover, and this one is butter-soft and the perfect length.
 • Daily Drills Unisex Oversized Crew: The coziest sweats hands-down; this is my uniform for lounging and weekend errands. There’s something about the cut and material that never looks sloppy, despite the oversized fit.

SHOES

 • Common Projects Original Achilles Low Sneaker: I love these sneakers so much, I’m on my third pair (and they were the #1 shopped item from this newsletter last year!). They’re the perfect minimalist sneaker that makes any outfit look sporty-chic.
 • Adidas OG Sambas: I wore these all over Paris last month, and the black stripe added just the right amount of vintage sport to every outfit. Most importantly, they’re insanely comfortable.
 • Madewell The Ardin Ankle Boot: These are sleek, with a not-too-high heel so I can actually walk around them all day pain-free.
 • Sezane Fausta Clogs: I’m not really a heels girl, so when the occasion calls for it, this platform clog feels elevated without trying too hard.
 • New Balance 327 Sneakers: My go-to workout sneaker, these are basically perfect. I love the platform sole that adds support and makes my legs look a few inches longer.

ACCESSORIES

 • Los Angeles Baseball Cap: This cap is the perfect shape for my head, and I throw it on whenever I need to get out the door fast. I love the sporty touch it adds to a white button-down and jeans.
 • Celine Cat Eye Sunglasses: When it comes to splurges I’m all about cost-per-wear, and what gets more wear than our sunglasses? These are the class, oversized shape I love.
 • Quince Barcelona Sunglasses: That said, if you tend to lose your sunnies as frequently as I do, these are an amazingly affordable alternative that looks and feels luxurious.
 • Sezane Romie Hoops: These sculptural hoops add a minimalist touch to both casual and elevated outfits. I wear mine literally every day.
 • Sezane Taylor Belt: I have this truly classic, high-quality belt in both black and brown. It’s an easy way to add structure and polish to jeans, trousers, and even linen shorts.
camille styles accessories_capsule wardrobe 2025

BAGS

 • Celine Luggage Tote: This was my first (and one of my only) true investment pieces, and it’s probably my most treasured wardrobe possession. I love it as much now as I did when I got it a decade ago—it’s truly stood the test of time! I’m linking to some well-priced used Celines which is both smart and sustainable.
 • Sezane Farrow Raphia Bucket Bag: Every wardrobe needs a classic “basket” bag for warm-weather months. I have a few because I’m obsessed, but this is my favorite.
 • Clare V Midi Sac: This chic crossbody is compact and incredibly versatile. It’s surprising how much it holds considering its size. I have it in both tan and forest green, and wear it constantly.

What Season Are You? Everything You Need to Know About Color Analysis https://camillestyles.com/style/fashion/color-analysis/ https://camillestyles.com/style/fashion/color-analysis/#respond Sat, 22 Mar 2025 12:00:00 +0000 https://camillestyles.com/?p=246559 camille styles lounging in a chair

That looks great on you.

“Wow, you’re really going for a look.” My husband gestured toward my side of the closet, where a growing collection of cream tops hung in a row. Further down, muted sky blues and cotton candy pinks had replaced the burnt oranges, deep greens, blacks, and stark whites that once filled my wardrobe. And he’s right—I am going for a look. One that makes my eyes pop and evens out my skin tone. My closet now reflects the journey I’ve been on for the last few months—to discover my season through color analysis.

How Color Analysis Will Change the Way You Get Dressed

Not the most noble journey, I’ll admit. But in my ongoing effort to reduce decision fatigue, attempting to get dressed from an overstuffed, cluttered closet was wearing me out. I wanted to feel like myself in my clothes—through silhouettes that reflect my style, fabrics that are comfortable and easy to move in, and colors that enhance my natural features. I had the first two down. But colors?

Like many, I’d heard the age-old phrase, “I’m an Autumn,” thanks to the bestselling 1980s book Color Me Beautiful by Carole Jackson. But much like hot rollers, I assumed it was outdated. However, when color analysis—and “getting your colors done”—started popping up on my feed, complete with stunning before-and-after photos of people glowing simply by swapping a gray top for green, I took notice. (Side note: I also ordered a set of hot rollers this week, but that’s a story for another day.)

It’s worth noting that the original conversation around color analysis was quite dated, primarily written for white women. Thankfully, modern stylists like Cocoa Styling on YouTube and Curate Your Style on Instagram are making this practice more inclusive, offering valuable resources for women of color.

So, let’s tackle the big question: How do I figure out my season?

For me, the answer wasn’t straightforward. I took online quizzes, uploaded photos to AI apps—but I still wasn’t sure. Many professional color analysts can help you determine your season (and maybe I’ll go that route eventually), but for now, I’m taking the DIY approach. That means following a few Instagram accounts, thrifting colors I suspect are in my season (Summer, perhaps?), and testing them out to see how I feel.

color analysis what color am i

The Four Color Seasons in Color Analysis

Before we dive into the seasons and what they mean, let’s establish one thing: This is all in good fun. You can (and should!) wear any color that makes you feel good. As much as we love categorizing ourselves (we can’t resist a good quiz), the truth is, we’re nuanced. If a system makes you feel boxed in, consider this your permission slip to break the box.

That said, we all know the feeling of putting on a color that just works—your skin looks more radiant, your eyes pop, and those pesky dark circles seem to disappear. Knowing your best colors can make shopping easier and eliminate the guesswork when getting dressed. That’s because your ideal shades mirror the natural undertones of your hair, eyes, and skin. The right colors enhance your natural beauty, while the wrong ones can leave you looking washed out or tired.

Of the four color seasons, there are two overarching types:

 • Warm seasons: Spring and Autumn (flattering yellow-based tones)
 • Cool seasons: Summer and Winter (flattering blue-based tones)

Not sure where you fall? Here are three key factors to help determine your season.

What season are you?

If you’re trying to find out your season at home, three components can help determine where you stand.

1. Discover Your Undertone

Look at the veins on your wrist in natural light.

 • If they appear blue or purple, you likely have cool undertones.
 • If they look green, you probably have warm undertones.

Need extra help? The Neutone app is a great (and free!) tool for analyzing undertones.

2. Consider Your Contrast

Contrast (or value) refers to the difference in lightness and darkness between your skin, eyes, and hair.

 • High contrast (e.g., fair skin with jet-black hair and cool-toned eyes) is often associated with Winter or Spring.
 • Low contrast (e.g., medium to dark skin with warm brown eyes and hair) is more common in Summer or Autumn.

Understanding your contrast helps you choose colors that create balance. High-contrast individuals often shine in bold, contrasting hues, while low-contrast individuals tend to look best in softer, tonal palettes.

3. Look at Chroma: Soft vs. Clear Colors

Depending on your season, your natural features either harmonize with soft muted colors or clear, bold hues.

 • Soft seasons (Summer, Autumn): Flatter softer, more tonal color combinations. Summers (cool undertones) look best in muted pastels, while Autumns (warm undertones) glow in rich, earthy shades.
 • Clear seasons (Winter, Spring): Have bolder, more vibrant natural features. Winters (cool undertones) shine in jewel tones like royal blue and emerald green, while Springs (warm undertones) radiate in bright, fresh hues like orange and sunny yellow.

Analyzing Each Season

While there aren’t any true “rules” to color analysis—again, you’re allowed to wear whatever color you want—here are some general guides for each color season. We’re just going to cover the four main seasons here, but color analysts have broken them down even further by identifying 12 sub-types for a more thorough evaluation.

color analysis spring

Spring

Springs have a high contrast with warm undertones. They often have light, warm-toned hair and fair to medium skin. Springs shine in vibrant and warm color combinations.

Celebrities in the Spring color season include Jessica Chastain, Emma Stone, Rihanna, Blake Lively, Kate Hudson, and Brittany Snow.

Vein Test: Start by examining the color of your wrist veins. Springs typically have veins that appear more blue or green. If your veins lean toward green, this suggests warm undertones, which may align with Spring if other characteristics match.

Eye and Hair Color: Springs usually have warm-toned eyes like hazel, light blue, green, or warm brown, and their natural hair colors can range from light to medium warm shades, such as strawberry blonde, golden blonde, or light to medium brown.

How Colors Make You Feel: Pay attention to how you feel when you wear different colors. Springs typically look their best in soft, warm, and vibrant colors like coral, peach, sunny yellow, and mint green. If these colors make your complexion appear more radiant and healthy, you might be a Spring.

Jewelry Metals: Springs often look better in warm metals like gold, brass, or copper. If you find that gold jewelry complements your skin tone more than silver, that’s another sign that you might be a Spring.

summer color analysis

Summer

Summers typically have low contrast between their features. They often have light or ash-blonde hair, light skin, and cool-toned eyes. Summers look stunning in soft, pastel colors and muted shades that harmonize with their gentle contrast.

Celebrities in the Summer color season include Emily Blunt, Allison Williams, Barbara Palvin, Leona Lewis, Caitriona Balfe, Emilia Clarke, and Miranda Kerr.

Vein Test: Summers typically have bluish or purplish veins. If your veins appear more blue than green, this suggests you have cool undertones, aligning with the Summer season.

Eye and Hair Color: Summers often have light, cool-toned eyes (blue, green, or gray) and light to medium ash-brown or blonde hair.

How Colors Make You Feel: Pay attention to how you feel when you wear certain colors. Summers typically look best in soft, muted, and cool colors. If pastel shades and cool-toned colors like lavender, soft pink, and powder blue make your complexion appear more vibrant and healthy, you’re likely a Summer.

Jewelry Metals: Summers typically look better in silver or white gold due to their cool undertones. If silver jewelry enhances your skin tone more than gold, it’s another clue that you might be a Summer.

color analysis autumn

Autumn

Autumns also have low contrast but with warm undertones. They often have warm hair colors, warm-toned eyes, and medium to dark skin. Autumns thrive in rich, earthy color combinations like deep rust and olive green.

Celebrities in the Autumn color season include Jennifer Lopez, Keira Knightley, Doja Cat, Elizabeth Olsen, Jessica Alba, Sofia Richie, and Beyonce.

Vein Test: If your veins appear more greenish, it suggests you have warm undertones, which align with the Autumn season.

Eye and Hair Color: Autumns often have warm, earthy tones in their natural eye and hair colors. This includes shades like deep brown, auburn, red, or warm blonde. If your natural eye and hair colors fall within these warm, earthy categories, it’s another sign of being an Autumn.

How Colors Make You Feel: Pay attention to how you feel when you wear certain colors. Autumns typically look best in warm, earthy, and rich colors like deep oranges, warm browns, olive greens, and mustard yellows. If these colors make your complexion appear more vibrant and healthy, you’re likely an Autumn.

Jewelry Metals: Autumns tend to look better in warm metals like gold and bronze due to their warm undertones. If gold jewelry enhances your skin tone more than silver, it’s another clue that you might be an Autumn.

color analysis winter

Winter

Winters typically have high contrast between their features. They have dark hair, fair skin, and often, bright or deep eye colors. These individuals look striking in bold, high-contrast color combinations like pure white and black.

Celebrities in the Winter color season include Zooey Deschanel, Janelle Monáe, Alexis Bledel, Lucy Liu, Lupita Nyong’o, Viola Davis, and Selena Gomez.

Vein Test: Winters typically have bluish or purplish veins, indicating cool undertones. If your veins appear more blue than green, this suggests you have cool undertones, aligning with the Winter season.

Eye and Hair Color: Winters often have cool-toned eyes, such as deep blue, gray, or green, and cool-toned hair colors like jet black, deep brown, or ash blonde. If your natural eye and hair colors align with these cool tones, it’s a strong sign that you’re a Winter.

How Colors Make You Feel: Pay attention to how you feel when you wear certain colors. Winters typically look best in bold, high-contrast colors like deep jewel tones, pure whites, and of course, a classic little black dress. If these colors make your complexion appear more vibrant and healthy, you’re likely a Winter.

Jewelry Metals: Experiment with silver and gold jewelry. Winters often look better in silver or white gold due to their cool undertones. If silver jewelry enhances your skin tone more than gold, it’s another clue that you might be a Winter.

Final Thoughts

Now it’s time to play. If you suspect you fall into a certain season, start experimenting. Try wearing those colors, swap out your jewelry, and see how it looks against your skin tone. In my experience, color analysis is as much about intuition as it is about theory.

I never thought I’d reach for a muted purple set, but here we are—and I love it.

At the end of the day, color analysis is a guide, not a rulebook. Embrace what makes you feel confident and beautiful, whether or not it perfectly aligns with your season. Because your best color is the one that makes you shine.

From bangles to boat shoes, here's what to know.

The post 10 Spring Fashion Trends Actually Worth Buying, According to Our Style Editor appeared first on Camille Styles.

If you took a peek at my screen time, you might assume I’m a shopaholic glued to TikTok and Pinterest. And while you wouldn’t be totally wrong, there’s more to the story. In my day job, I spend most of my time scrolling rather than spending, gathering inspiration for upcoming Daily Drills collections—curating trends, analyzing styles, and yes, building a pretty extensive wishlist along the way. After deep-diving into the spring fashion trends of 2025, these 10 items have me hovering over the “add to cart” button.

This season, spring fashion trends are all about self-expression through thoughtful details. Quiet luxury is stepping aside, making room for playful textures, statement accessories, and vibrant touches that feel fresh, yet wearable. The spring color palette blends powdery pastels with earthy neutrals, setting the tone for an outdoorsy, relaxed, and effortlessly cool vibe. So, if you’re looking for a few key pieces to refresh your spring wardrobe, here are the 10 must-have trends I can’t stop thinking about.

Bangles: Bigger the Better

Of all the spring fashion trends in 2025, chunky bangles have become my biggest hyperfixation. I’ve spotted them in everything from bold, heavy hardware to vibrant acrylics—and I love both equally. Personally, I’m super into mixing metals, and stacks of silver and gold bangles together are all over my Pinterest. The perfect statement jewelry for spring, they add instant interest to simple staples like white tees and tanks. And while the weather’s still in that in-between phase, try layering them over your jacket or sweater sleeves. They’ll hold the scrunch perfectly while adding a stylish touch.

Everything-But-The-Boat Shoes

While I may not have the yacht to match, I’ll definitely be adding a pair of boat shoes to my wardrobe this season. As someone who despises flip-flops but loves the convenience of a shoe I can easily slip off at the beach, boat shoes feel like the perfect solution. There’s something effortlessly cool about this trend—like a style secret only the IYKYK crowd will appreciate. When it comes to styling, I see them taking the place of my leather ballet flats from fall—meaning they’ll go with just about everything. From classic nautical looks with white linen to casual combos like boxer shorts and a tee, boat shoes are the shoes of spring 2025.

Jewelry For Your Hair

This spring fashion trend might seem extra at first, but trust me—it’s anything but. Hair cuffs are the ultimate lazy-girl hack for bad hair days. Whenever my hair feels greasy or just won’t cooperate, I throw it into a simple braid, add a cuff or two, and instantly look and feel more polished. It’s a small detail that makes it seem like I put way more thought into my look than I actually did. Try a rubber band with a built-in cuff to elevate your everyday ponytail, or add smaller cuffs to intricate styles for some additional fun. Whether you’re dressing for a black-tie event, a casual tee-and-jeans day, or heading to the beach, a hair cuff is an easy, affordable way to elevate your look with a touch of thoughtful detail.

City-Girl Barn Jackets

The countryside chic trend of 2024 brought barn jackets into the spotlight last spring, and they’re sticking around this year with a fresh, modern twist. Designers are elevating these timeless pieces with details like intricate collars and cinched silhouettes, ensuring they stay relevant and stylish. These subtle updates push barn jackets beyond quiet luxury, embracing the bold energy of modern maximalism—a trend I’m personally thrilled about (more on that later!). I love styling a jacket that can hold its own with a simple monochrome base, but these elevated basics are versatile enough to pair with everything from sundresses to jeans.

Sporty Chic

From stirrup leggings to designer track shorts, athleisure is blending seamlessly with street style this spring. Gone are the days when workout wear was confined to the gym—designers and influencers are giving comfy classics an elevated twist, making them more than suitable for everyday wear. Some of my favorite spring looks pair stirrup leggings with kitten heels or nylon shorts with cozy knits, proving that sporty pieces can feel just as chic as they are functional. I love styling these pieces in layers—perfect for heading to yoga, then adding a few accessories to take me through the rest of my day.

Butter, Meet Chartreuse

When analyzing and predicting trends in my 9-to-5, one of the biggest patterns I track is color evolution. When a shade gains popularity, it rarely disappears overnight—instead, it gradually shifts into a fresh yet familiar tone. For example, the bold reds of fall 2024 have softened into deep burgundy for fall 2025, and last year’s buttery yellow is evolving into a muted, yellow-green chartreuse for spring. While this earthy-yet-springy shade might take some warming up to, it’s the perfect transitional pop of color for the season. Start with a handbag or accessory, then build up to a statement skirt or dress when you’re ready to fully embrace the golden shade.

In the Cropped Trenches

Trends may come and go, but trench coats will always be the ultimate spring layer. While last year was all about full-length styles, this season, their shorter (and arguably more flattering) little sister is the main character. I’ve always felt a bit dramatic reaching for a full-length trench, so I’m excited to embrace this more understated, easy-to-wear cropped version. Perfect for everyday errands with leggings and loafers or casual lunches with jeans and sneakers, it’s a versatile piece that fits effortlessly into any wardrobe. Plus, if you’re traveling a lot this spring, like I am, the cropped style is a total win—taking up far less space in your suitcase.

Layers Are Sheer To Stay

Sheer organza layers have been dominating trends for the past year, and they’re not going anywhere for spring 2025. One staple piece? Paper-thin layers of sheer fabric draped over mini skirts—a perfect transitional staple. They give you the flirty look of a mini skirt without exposing any pre-summer-tan pale legs. I love pairing sheer layers with an oversized tee and sneakers for a laid-back daytime look or styling them with a structured blazer and slingbacks for an effortless evening look. You can also go for a fully sheer organza piece as a chic cover-up for any tropical getaway you have on the calendar.

(Literally) Your Grandma’s Brooch

One trend that might not require any purchase at all: accessorizing with vintage or vintage-inspired brooches. These timeless pieces add a unique, personal touch to any outfit—and they often come with a story to tell. Try pinning one on a crisp white tee or denim jacket for an unexpected detail on a casual look, or swap a traditional bag charm for a brooch to give your handbags new life. Since this trend is making a comeback, consider this your sign to make a day of it. Reach out to your mom or grandma and ask if they have any brooches they’d be willing to share. Not only will you score some one-of-a-kind pieces, but you’ll also create special memories with your most stylish loved ones.

cha

More Than a Twinge of Fringe

Some fashion trends quietly sneak onto my radar, and before I know it, they’re everywhere—and that’s exactly what happened with fringe. After obsessing over a photo of Courtney Grow in a vintage fringe jacket, I started noticing fringe everywhere. From jackets to skirts to handbags, this playful texture is an easy way to add movement and interest to your spring wardrobe. While suede is the most common material for fringe, try lighter, softer shades for a transitional look that still adds a touch of warmth. Denim fringe is another great option that gives this trend a fresh, seasonal spin.

closet clean out with organized purses on the wall

Lately, life has looked like a busy blur of travel. And while I’ve loved making memories, connecting with friends, and jumping into new experiences, perhaps the most unexpected result of life on the go has been how it’s motivated me to do a closet clean out. Let me explain. Over the past two months, I’ve been traveling at least every other week and living out of a suitcase. That means I’m rotating between the easiest and most versatile outfits that 1) fit in my carry-on and 2) effortlessly take me from day to night.

Those unicorn pieces include my favorite Freda Salvador slip-on sneakers, this cozy Frank & Eileen travel set for the flight, an old DOEN dress that has easily become my most-worn (and complimented) dress, a leather jacket, a few workout outfits, and anything that might be specific to the occasion, whether a wedding or work trip.

Grabbing these staples weekly has illuminated the fact that a small portion of my closet is for my tried-and-true staples, minus a few special pieces. Maybe you feel similar about your closet: that nothing seems to be getting worn and a majority of items take up too much space. Clearly, a closet clean out is calling our names.

5 Tips for an Effective Closet Clean Out

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve decluttered my closet only to find it filled up again with impulse buys, gifted items, and pieces I wish I wore but never do. And let’s be honest—some things stick around simply because of how much I spent on them (ouch).

Every time I open it up, I feel the overwhelm creeping in: I have too much.

But here’s the thing—closet clean-outs don’t have to be an all-day, all-or-nothing event. Small, intentional steps can create lasting change if you approach them intentionally and are patient with yourself. If your closet is likewise due for a refresh, here’s how I’m approaching mine, one step at a time.

Step 1: Start With the Easiest Pieces

If I haven’t worn it in years, then it’s an easy goodbye. Case in point: my stash of cycling gear from 2015-2017. The last time I hopped on my road bike was in 2017. Safe to say, it’s time to let go.

Not everything has to leave—I’ll keep two sets of gear just in case—but the rest is heading to resale (cycling kits hold their value!). The same applies to anything else that’s been collecting dust. If it hasn’t seen the light of day in ages, chances are it never will.

Step 2: Minimize Duplicates

Raise your hand if you have a favorite sweatshirt you always reach for. Now raise your hand if you have 17 more sitting in your closet that are stiff, unworn, or just not quite right. Yep, same.

The reality? More isn’t more—it’s just taking up space. The goal here is to curate, not just clean. I’m keeping only the things I actually wear and love. (The exception: white tees. If you’re a fellow spiller, then you know backups are essential.)

Step 3: Get Honest About “One Day”

A huge chunk of my closet is made up of clothes I reach for maybe once or twice a year. They either don’t fit quite right, feel uncomfortable, or just aren’t me anymore. And yet… I struggle to part with them.

I’m reframing the way I think about these pieces. If I can alter it to fit—and I’d actually wear it—then I’ll keep it. Otherwise, it’s out. Because the truth is, styles evolve and clinging to the past isn’t doing me (or my space) any favors. Give yourself permission to remember the same.

Step 4: Donate, Sell, Gift

The final step is to find a new home for the pieces I no longer need. Whether it’s ThredUp, Poshmark, eBay, or a local nonprofit like Dress for Success, I’m committing to getting these items out of my space and into the hands of someone who’ll love them.

It’s easy to procrastinate on this part because taking photos and listing items can be a process, but I’m tackling it in small increments—just a few hours on the weekend until it’s done. I know it will feel so good once it is.

Step 5: Set Future Ground Rules

My sister has a friend who embodies a true minimalist’s attitude. If she buys something new, then she removes the same number of items from her closet. She also never buys something unless she can wear it right then. I love this approach. It creates an awareness of what’s actually in your wardrobe and prevents the “I forgot I even owned this” moment—of which I have many.

This mindset isn’t just for closets, either. Lately, I’ve realized my pantry and fridge could probably use a deep clean and better organization too.

While the process may seem daunting right now, know there’s nothing more grounding than stepping into a space that feels light, organized, and aligned with who you are. Purposeful and intentional. Consider this your sign: Start small, go step by step, and trust that with each piece you let go of, you’re making room for more of what you love.

Woman wearing yellow dress outside.

One of the most challenging—and exciting—parts of working on the design and production side of fashion is anticipating what people will want months in advance. We’re constantly analyzing trends, forecasting colors, and making decisions long before they hit the shelves. So when the 2025 fashion color palette finally starts appearing on runways and in stores, it feels like watching a vision come to life. This year, it’s all about powdery pastels, earthy neutrals, and a striking, sophisticated brown—Pantone’s newly crowned Color of the Year. From olive green to off-white, these are the wearable hues you’ll soon see everywhere, from handbags to shoes to dresses.

It’s a process that reminds me of The Devil Wears Prada’s iconic cerulean blue monologue—proof that the shades we see in our closets aren’t random. I’ve rounded up the best of the best from 2025’s color story, and trust me, these are shades you’ll want to wear on repeat.

2025 Fashion Color Palette: How To Style It

Pale Pink

This season’s take on pink leans powdery and sophisticated—less Barbie bubblegum, more effortless chic. The beauty of this shade lies in its versatility. It’s soft enough to feel understated, yet bold enough to make an impact. As a subtle statement color, pale pink fits seamlessly into any wardrobe, bringing the right balance of femininity and modernity.

If pink feels too girly for your style, try incorporating it into a tailored blazer or structured trousers for an unexpected edge. Pair it with chocolate browns and greys for the remainder of winter, then transition to cream or white as the weather warms.

Eggshell Ecru

Though boyfriends and husbands everywhere might say this shade is simply “white,” ecru is the ultimate wear-with-anything color, all about that warm, creamy eggshell tone. Softer than stark white but just as versatile, it’s the color of easy elegance—whether in a structured wool coat now or breezy linen trousers come summer. This neutral plays well with every shade in the 2025 fashion color palette, making it a foundation piece for effortless, elevated dressing.

Earthy Olive

Earthy olive green tones are a fresh alternative to classic neutrals in 2025. While neon “brat” green made a splash in 2024, this season’s take is rich and slightly muted—channeling a dirty martini, with warm undertones that make it effortlessly wearable. Whether in an oversized utility jacket, slouchy trousers, or a sleek leather handbag, this deep green adds depth without overpowering.

If you typically gravitate toward brown tones, consider swapping in olive green for a modern, unexpected twist. It’s a shade that seamlessly transitions from season to season depending on how you wear it, securing its place in the 2025 fashion color palette.

Powder Blue

Another pastel taking over in 2025, powder blue is fresh, airy, and just pale enough to feel like a neutral. A softer, more wearable take on traditional baby blue, its cool undertones and barely-there quality bring a lightness to this year’s palette. It pairs effortlessly with denim for an easy everyday look and contrasts beautifully against ecru and crisp white. Yet, it’s subtle enough for a full monochrome moment without feeling overwhelming. Whether in a breezy sundress, tailored slacks, or a cozy sweater, powder blue is timeless yet perfectly on-trend, adding a breath of fresh air to any wardrobe.

Mocha Mousse

Mocha Mousse, Pantone’s 2025 Color of the Year, is bringing warmth and richness to this year’s fashion color palette. This deep, comforting brown has been described as expressing “thoughtful indulgence”—which, coincidentally, is my motto when it comes to fashion.

Its versatility makes it a go-to neutral, effortlessly pairing with everything from soft pastels to deep jewel tones. Whether in luxe leather bags, structured outerwear, or sleek knitwear, Mocha Mousse adds understated polish to any look. Lately, I’ve been loving tonal brown outfits, mixing Mocha Mousse with rich cocoa and soft sand shades—proof that brown is anything but boring in 2025.

Deep Burgundy

Deep Burgundy is taking center stage in 2025, replacing last year’s cherry red with a richer, moodier adaptation. Shades of red have been evolving—2023 was all about bright, fire-engine hues, 2024 leaned into deeper cherry tones, and now, we’re seeing a shift toward a super-rich, merlot-inspired burgundy that almost leans plum. Sultry and sophisticated, it’s the perfect pop of color for accessories like bags and shoes. I even have a phone case in this shade. Instantly elevating any outfit and adding depth, burgundy is proof that red will always be in style, just with a fresh, modern twist.

The Guide to the Best LBD for Every Occasion https://camillestyles.com/style/fashion/wardrobe-essentials/best-little-black-dresses/ https://camillestyles.com/style/fashion/wardrobe-essentials/best-little-black-dresses/#respond Mon, 24 Feb 2025 11:00:00 +0000 https://camillestyles.com/?p=290982

From casual to cocktail.

There’s a reason the little black dress has remained a wardrobe essential for decades—sometimes, the simplest answer is the best. The best LBD’s are more than just an outfit; they’re a confidence boost in fabric form, making you feel effortlessly chic, subtly sexy, and undeniably elegant all at once. A great LBD doesn’t compete for attention—it enhances your natural beauty, providing the perfect backdrop for statement accessories or a bold makeup look. Plus, black is universally flattering, creating a sleek, streamlined silhouette that never goes out of style.

Whether you’re dressing for a night out, a big meeting, or a casual weekend, the best little black dresses ensure you always have something timeless to wear. I’ve rounded up my top picks for every occasion below, so finding your a new favorite outfit is easier than ever.

best-little-black-dresses

Day-to-Day

For those busy days of errands, coffee runs, or casual lunches, the best little black dresses are the ones that keep up with you. Comfort is key—look for a relaxed fit that’s not too short, too tight, or too high-maintenance. A breezy cotton or linen option will keep you feeling effortless from morning to evening. Style it with your choice sneakers or sandals, because it goes with everything, and top it off with your go-to sunglasses and everyday bag.

Polished & Professional

As someone who is not a morning person, I can confidently say that my styling brain power before 9 a.m. is minimal at best. When I’m getting dressed for work, I need something that looks put-together without requiring actual thought—which is exactly why a polished little black dress is my go-to. It’s the ultimate no-brainer outfit: effortlessly sophisticated, always flattering, and impossible to mess up. Whether I’m running late to a meeting or just trying to survive the day on caffeine alone, I know I can throw it on with slingbacks or classic loafers and instantly feel polished—no overthinking required.

Sweater Weather

In my opinion, the best little black dresses are knit—because what’s better than looking chic and feeling cozy at the same time? A great knit dress is one of those rare pieces that works year-round, depending on the weight of the fabric. I recently picked up a black knit dress from Dissh, and it’s quickly become my go-to. I wore it during the day with slides and the matching tie belt, then swapped in a gold hardware belt and heeled boots for dinner. It’s the kind of effortless staple that makes getting dressed so much easier—whether I’m running errands, meeting friends for lunch, or dressing it up for a night out.

Night Out

When the dress code calls for something sexy but understated, the best little black dresses are always the way to go. For me, my go-to LBD isn’t actually a dress at all—it’s an oversized blazer, belted and cinched at the waist. It’s the perfect mix of structured and sexy, giving that quiet luxury vibe without trying too hard. If I do go the classic little black dress route, I keep it sleek and understated, pairing it with pointed-toe boots or minimalist slingbacks. Either way, a black-on-black outfit is always my easy route to looking effortlessly pulled together.

Best-Dressed Guest

We’ve all been there—standing in front of our closet, trying on what feels like a hundred outfits, only to end up feeling like none of them are quite right. It’s that moment when you’re staring at your clothes, overwhelmed, and finally, you just reach for your trusty little black dress. It’s always there for you, no questions asked, and somehow, it always works. I love having an evening LBD on hand for exactly these moments, whether it’s for a last-minute invite or an event where nothing else seems to fit the occasion. The best part? You can switch up your accessories—shoes, bags, earrings—and instantly transform the look. A great LBD is an investment that ensures you’ll always feel confident, and with it in your wardrobe, you’ll never have to stress about what to wear again.

While I’m still manifesting my New York Fashion Week invite, for now, my front row seat is a digital one—scrolling endlessly through the influencer fashion trends taking over my feed. Honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. With every swipe, it feels like the influencers and editors of the moment are curating 2025’s biggest fashion moments just for me.

The takeaway? This year, fashion is all about ease, confidence, and a little bold self-expression. These trends strike that perfect balance between aspirational and wearable—small shifts that bring a fresh perspective to your closet. And if there’s one thing I hope you take away, it’s this: you don’t need a Fashion Week invite to experiment with your style. Whether it’s a statement accessory or a refined everyday staple, these trends prove that even the simplest updates can make a big impact.

Let’s break down the top 10 influencer fashion trends 2025 has to offer. Below, I’ve rounded up the best pieces to shop so you can make them your own.
image above from our interview with Mary Ralph Bradley, by Michelle Nash.

Stirring Up Athleisure

Stirrup leggings are my current fashion hyperfixation. While Alix Earle may be making a case for skinny jeans, I’m all in on the elongating, effortlessly polished look of these sleek leggings—especially when paired with a slingback heel or loafer. And the best part? They’re leggings, so while you can style them up like Hannah Lovey, they work double time in your closet. A sculpting pair of stirrup leggings easily transitions from an actual workout to a casual-chic brunch outfit with the right layers. Toss on an oversized blazer or a structured knit, and you’re suddenly in quiet luxury territory without sacrificing an ounce of comfort. Think of this influencer fashion trend as elevated loungewear 2.0. It’s a natural evolution after years of living in sweatpants.

Head Case Study

Headscarves and balaclavas are taking center stage, bringing a ’60s-inspired, European-chic touch to modern dressing. A simple yet impactful accessory, these pieces instantly add an air of effortlessness—whether you’re channeling Audrey Hepburn in a convertible or just need a practical (and stylish) solution for a bad hair day. This influencer fashion trend 2025 is functional as it is fashionable. If you’re somewhere cold, opt for a soft cashmere balaclava to keep cozy while looking impossibly chic. Warmer weather? A silk scarf tied under the chin or wrapped around a ponytail adds just the right amount of main-character energy to any outfit.

A Western Love Story

Cowboy boots, wide-brim hats, suede fringe jackets—Western style is no longer just for the wild west. And as a Texas native, I’ve definitely cosplayed this trend when rodeo season rolls around, but this year, I’m bringing my boots into the everyday rotation. The trick to making it feel wearable is to mix one statement piece into your usual wardrobe rather than going full-on cowgirl. A pair of western boots instantly makes denim feel more interesting, while a suede jacket layered over a slip dress adds just the right amount of rugged charm. It’s Western-inspired, but leans more chic than costume.

Nautical Nods

Stripes and boat shoes are making waves (literally), but with a fresh, modern twist. Think effortless and subtly preppy—a look that feels just as fitting for city streets as it does for summer vacation. I view boat shoes as the next evolution of the ballet flat; they’re structured, yet comfortable, offering that perfect blend of casual and refined. Whether paired with relaxed denim or a crisp linen set, they add an easy, put-together touch to any outfit. Meanwhile, stripes serve as the ultimate gateway pattern. They’re bold enough to make a statement but neutral enough to work with everything in your closet.

The Gloves are ON

An accessory that’s as practical as it is polished, gloves are having a serious moment in 2025 fashion. For evening looks, try channelling old-Hollywood glamour with silk elbow-length gloves—perfect for elevating a strapless dress or adding an air of sophistication to a simple slip dress. But gloves aren’t just for special occasions. For everyday wear, try a fun printed pair peeking out from your jacket sleeve to add personality to a simple winter coat. Gloves are proof that sometimes even the smallest details can make the biggest impact.

Into the Wild

If you’re still treating animal prints as statement pieces, consider this your sign to recategorize them as neutrals. In 2025, cheetah, zebra, leopard, and snakeskin are no longer just accents—they’re wardrobe staples. For an easy entry into the trend, start small: a leopard-print belt cinching a blazer, snakeskin boots paired with denim, or a structured zebra-print bag that turns heads in all the right ways. If you’re feeling bolder, a cheetah-print jacket or zebra-striped trousers instantly add depth and dimension to your look. And if you’re really ready to embrace the wild side, don’t be afraid to mix prints. Pairing different patterns together creates an effortlessly cool, editorial feel.

Still Sheer

Sheer fabrics continue their reign in 2025, proving that delicate, airy textures can be both sexy and wearable. Mesh tops, organza skirts, and chiffon layers bring a soft, ethereal quality to everyday dressing while remaining endlessly versatile. For a more understated take on the trend, try layering a sheer blouse over a fitted tank for just a hint of translucence. If you’re ready to fully lean in, pair a sheer maxi dress or skirt with a slip coverage of your choice—full length, or barely-there like Courtney. It’s all about layering, contrast, and finding the perfect balance for your comfort zone.

Let’s Brooch the Subject

Your grandma’s jewelry box is officially the place to shop this season, because brooches are making a stylish comeback. These vintage-inspired pins aren’t just accessories—they’re conversation starters, adding a personal, unexpected element to any outfit. Pin a brooch at the collar of a button-down in place of a necklace like Larissa Mills, or use one to secure a scarf draped over your shoulders. You can even attach a cluster of brooches to a structured bag for a unique, collected-over-time aesthetic.

Literal Rose-Colored Glasses

Sunglasses aren’t just for blocking the sun anymore—in 2025, they’re an all-day, every-day accessory. Light-lensed glasses are making a major statement, bringing a funky, vintage-inspired touch to any look. From soft pinks and golden ambers to cool blues and greens, tinted lenses instantly add a playful edge while keeping your outfit feeling intentional and put-together. And if you want to blend fashion with function, opt for a pair with blue light-blocking lenses, so you’re protecting your eyes and looking eye-catching. If you love accessorizing with sunnies, this is the perfect trend to try, because unlike your usual dark lenses, these don’t have to come off when you step indoors.

Wearable Art

Minimalist dressing meets maximalist accessorizing with this year’s most creative trend: wearable art. Sculptural accessories are breathing new life into capsule wardrobes, proving that a single statement piece can transform even the simplest outfit into something unforgettable. Think bold, architectural earrings that feel like mini sculptures, geometric handbags that double as conversation starters, and multiple belts layered on top of each other. Some designers are even pushing the boundaries of this trend, taking animal prints one step further with animal-shaped handbags—a playful yet elevated twist on statement dressing. But if a puppy purse isn’t your thing, there are endless ways to incorporate this trend. Layer oversized enamel cuffs over the sleeves of your blouse or sweater for a high-fashion touch, or let a dramatic necklace or sculptural clutch be the focal point of your look.

Which of the influencer fashion trends 2025 are you most excited to try?

The right workout set can make a significant difference in how you feel and perform. I know that might sound silly, but the best workout sets do more than just cover you during exercise. It can be the subtle nudge that gets you out the door, the confidence boost that helps you push through one more rep, the small motivation that transforms an ordinary workout into something you actually look forward to. When you feel good in what you’re wearing, you’re more likely to show up for yourself—and that’s half the battle.

When it comes to forming a fitness routine, sometimes you’ve got to fake it until you make it, and the best workout sets can be the first step. If I show up to a workout class wearing my old, ratty leggings and a t-shirt, it’s almost like my body doesn’t work as hard because I didn’t put my best foot forward getting dressed. However, when I put on a matching set, cute pilates socks, and slick back my hair, I feel like I owe it to my outfit to give it my all.

So, whether you’re a seasoned pilates pro or have just signed up for your first yoga class, these 20 workout sets will deliver the extra confidence boost we all need to get moving.

The Best of the Best:

Daily Drills’ best-selling set is back in brand new colorways. Plus, the tie detail goes a long way. It’s a fan favorite for a reason.

SET Sporty Layered Cami Bra & Sporty Leggings

SET’s latest collection proves that performance wear can be both functional and fashion-forward. The layered cami bra creates interesting visual depth while providing surprisingly robust support, and the matching leggings feature subtle contouring that enhances natural curves. I definitely feel like “that girl” every time I wear this elevated, unique set.

Alo Yoga’s Airlift fabric lives up to its reputation with a weightless feel that still manages to sculpt and support, while the 1/4 zip long sleeve adds versatility for changing temperatures. The 7/8 length hits at just the right spot on the ankle, and the high waist stays put, finding that perfect balance between keeping things tight and suffocation.

Form Halter Tank & Core Leggings

I will always trust fitness brands to design the best workout sets. Form’s minimalist approach results in a set that’s anything but basic. The Halter Tank is ultra-feminine, while still offering unexpected support, and the Core Leggings feature subtle compression panels that enhance performance without visible seams.

Nagnata Retro Tank & Retro Short 2.0

If you’re looking for activewear that doubles as streetwear, look no further than Nagnata. I first discovered the brand on a trip to Australia last year, and the unique designs have not left my mind. The sustainable textile blend combines organic cotton with technical yarns for breathability and stretch. While this set is definitely a splurge, you won’t find anything else like it on the market.

FP Movement Happiness Runs Long Tank & Carpe Diem Shorts

Size Range: XS-XL

This FP Movement high-neck tank has been my go-to for years. Paired with the Carpe Diem shorts, it creates a stylish, high-intensity workout set that’s great for walking, running, and everything in between. The thick, ribbed fabric is both comfortable and supportive at a price you just can’t beat.

Beyond Yoga Featherweight Waist No Time Wrap Top & Spacedye High Waisted Practice Pocket Bootcut Pant

Size Range: XS-XL

This is your basic black workout set with a flirty upgrade. Beyond Yoga’s elevated wrap top provides adjustable coverage and support, while the bootcut pants feature the brand’s signature Spacedye fabric that feels incredibly soft while maintaining its shape. The addition of practical pockets and a high waist that’s actually high-waisted makes this set as functional as it is flattering.

Port De Bras Gio Wave Top & Wave Skirt

Size Range: XXS-XL

If you’re looking to invest in activewear that doubles as art, may I introduce you to Port De Bras. Their unique designs are unlike anything else on the market, so trust me when I say you’ll be stopped multiple times with compliments on your next morning walk. For all of the tennis lovers out there, the Wave Top features architectural lines that create beautiful movement, while the matching skirt includes built-in shorts for coverage during dynamic movements.

Varley Davidson Sweat & The Wide Leg Pant 28″

Varley has truly mastered the art of athleisure. The Davidson Sweat offers a slightly oversized fit that never looks sloppy, while the Wide Leg Pant features a tapered silhouette that flatters without clinging. The premium fabric has a luxurious weight that drapes beautifully and holds up well to repeated wear. For those days when leggings and a sports bra are just too much, opt for a comfortable, yet still functional, set like this.

Nike Swoosh Light Support Bra & Nike One High-Waisted Full-Length Leggings

Size Range: XXS – XXXL (Regular & Tall)

Nike is a brand that you know you can trust for the best workout sets. They’ve perfected workout wear with their One leggings—my favorite leggings in my closet, featuring the brand’s latest compression technology that is incredibly flattering. The Swoosh bra has my marathon-running cousin’s stamp of approval, and I can’t think of a better review.

Splits59 Amelia Airweight Lite Shrug & River High Waist Airweight Stirrup

Size Range: XS-XL

I can’t stop thinking about the comeback of stirrup leggings. This ballet-inspired style from Splits59 provides stability during movement, but also looks chic dressed up with a loafer or a slingback heel. You can go from the gym to the bar with one pair of pants. Their feminine shrug adds versatile layering options to your favorite sports bra, and just makes me feel all the more put together.

Lululemon Align Tank & Align High-Rise Pant 25″

Size Range: 0-20

Lululemon’s best-selling Align collection is a tried-and-true favorite. The buttery-soft tank features a built-in bra that provides comfortable support for low-impact activities, while the high-rise pants offer that signature naked sensation the line is famous for. This set remains a go-to for both yoga and everyday wear.

Athleta Elation Cinch Built-In Bra Top & Cinch Ultra High Rise Legging

Athleta innovates with adjustable details in this versatile and chic set. The Cinch top allows for customizable coverage and support, while the matching leggings feature subtle ruching that can be adjusted for different looks. The Powervita fabric provides gentle compression while feeling incredibly soft against the skin.

CSB Activluxe Lexi Power Crop & Activluxe Scrunch Shorts 4″

Size Range: XS-XXL

A new-to-me brand, CSB brings bold design to functional activewear with this dynamic set. The Power Crop provides unexpected support through its unique construction, while the scrunch shorts feature a flattering hidden scrunch that enhances natural curves. Though this set is best for low-impact workouts, the Activluxe fabric blends style and compression seamlessly.

Best lingerie brands.

There’s something transformative about slipping into a piece of lingerie you love. While Valentine’s Day often turns our attention to lace and silk, it’s worth remembering that the best lingerie brands craft pieces meant to be enjoyed far beyond a romantic rendezvous. These styles, designed with their attention to detail, offer more than just beauty—they invite us to feel luxurious, confident, and wonderfully ourselves. And isn’t that the most meaningful kind of romance?

Because lingerie isn’t just about how it looks (though, of course, that’s part of the magic); it’s about how it makes us feel. A delicate bralette layered under your favorite oversized sweater, a perfectly-fitted bodysuit that feels like a second skin, or even the matching set you keep for no special occasion at all—these are the romanticize-your-life moments that elevate the everyday. Whether it’s for those long mornings spent with a book in bed or a solo evening on the couch with nothing but your cats and a glass of wine (hi, me), the right lingerie can remind us of the beauty in the quiet of life.

Lingerie 101: Find Your Best Style and Fit

This February, we’re embracing lingerie not just as a nod to romance but as an essential part of romanticizing our own lives. Because the best lingerie is more than an accessory—it’s an act of self-love, a declaration that you always deserve to feel your best. From timeless classics to the more modern and bold, dive into our guide to the best lingerie brands ahead.

How to Measure Your Bra Size

Finding the perfect-fitting bra can feel like an impossible task—and as a result, many of us often settle for discomfort without even realizing it. In a previous article, I looked into why so few of us know our true fit. One key takeaway? Sizing isn’t static—our bodies change, and our bras should, too.

According to Cami Raymond, Senior Design Director at Ruby Ribbon, the first step is getting sized regularly—ideally every six to twelve months. She recommends visiting a professional fitter for the most accurate results. Equally important is knowing when to swap out old bras—fabric stretching, loose straps, and misshapen cups are all signs that it’s time for a refresh.

Beyond size, Raymond emphasizes the importance of choosing bras that fit your lifestyle. She suggests having at least seven bras: four for every day and three for specific needs, like workouts or special occasions.

How to Care for Your Lingerie

Lingerie is an investment, and proper care can extend its lifespan. Hand-washing is the best option to maintain delicate fabrics and prevent wear. But if you prefer machine-washing, using a lingerie bag on a delicate cycle can help protect your pieces from snagging or losing their shape. After washing, air drying is essential.

The Best Lingerie Brands for Effortless Elegance

The best pieces strike a balance between beauty and comfort. Whether you’re drawn to lace, minimalist silhouettes, or everyday essentials with a touch of luxury, the right lingerie can elevate your wardrobe in ways both seen and unseen. Below, we’ve rounded up the best lingerie brands that deliver your perfect fit—and the kind of quality that makes every day feel a little more special.

Comfort & Versatility: Negative Underwear

With a focus on seamless fits and no-fuss designs, Negative Underwear is the go-to brand for women seeking effortlessly comfortable pieces for daily wear. Embracing a minimalist approach, the brand prioritizes comfort, quality, and function—ditching unnecessary padding and adornments in favor of essential, well-crafted pieces.

Accessible Luxury: KAT The Label

I discovered KAT The Label a few years back and have been obsessed ever since. The brand’s pieces add a luxe touch underneath any outfit—I love styling the bras underneath an oversized button-down. Chic. And I’ve never felt sexier than in this set. (Science?) Consider this the cool-girl favorite, perfect for those who want a minimalist but elevated design that defines feminine energy.

Stunning Sophistication: Fleur du Mal

Get ready for a lingerie drawer upgrade—Fleur du Mal is extra in all the best ways. Blurring the line between fashion and intimates, the brand elevates lingerie with luxurious fabrics. Playful yet sophisticated, its designs range from statement-making silhouettes to everyday essentials. Need a confidence boost? Shop away.

Splurge-Worthy Style: KIKI de Montparnasse

KIKI de Montparnasse is the definition of understated seduction. Every piece feels like a secret indulgence—crafted from decadent fabrics with details that are impossibly chic. Slip into one of their silk bras and I guarantee: main character energy. Whether it’s a lace bodysuit or the perfect satin slip, this is lingerie designed for the woman who knows that true luxury is all about how it makes you feel.

European Elegance: Cosabella

Cosabella is the kind of lingerie that makes you feel beautiful before you even get dressed. Their signature Italian lace is both delicate and durable—soft against the skin but structured enough to feel supportive. I love slipping into one of their bralettes under a cozy sweater or wearing a lace bodysuit as a base layer for a night out. It’s the perfect mix of indulgence and practicality, proving that everyday lingerie should be just as stunning as it is comfortable.

Minimalist & Modern: CUUP

I first came to CUUP by way of their beyond-flattering swimwear, so when I tried their lingerie, I had high expectations—and it did not disappoint. Their minimalist yet ultra-supportive bras strike the perfect balance between style and function, made with luxe, unlined fabrics that celebrate your natural shape rather than covering it up. The fit is impeccable (53 sizes!), and each piece feels like it was made for my body, not the other way around. If you love clean lines, modern silhouettes, and lingerie that makes you feel both powerful and effortless, CUUP is it.

Classic & Refined: Journelle

Journelle is where I go when I want lingerie that feels equal parts effortless and indulgent. Their pieces are refined but never fussy—modern silhouettes, elevated fabrics, and a fit that makes you feel like your best self. Whether I’m looking for something minimalist and sleek or a little more romantic, they always deliver. Consider this the ultimate destination for lingerie that works as hard as you do (and looks gorgeous doing it).

French-Girl Fave: Etam

French girl style will forever be in. It’s that effortlessly enviable je ne sais quoi that has us frantically pulling sweaters from Sézane, dresses from Isabel Marant, and yes—lingerie from Etam. A household name for over a century, the brand has mastered the balance of sexy and wearable, with bras that flatter, silks that drape just right, and embroidery that looks far more expensive than it is. Consider this your answer to looking (and feeling) French, no matter where you are.

Irene Chen thinks of style as a language, and accessories are the exclamation point that give every outfit its meaning. As the co-founder of Parker Thatch, Irene has spent decades crafting timeless yet functional luxury pieces that seamlessly blend elegance with ease. Given her roots in fashion product development at iconic brands like Donna Karan and Calvin Klein, Chen has an innate understanding of how essential accessories can transform not only an outfit but the confidence of the person wearing it. Her philosophy is simple: good style has no age cap, and the right accessories are key to creating a look that feels distinctly, authentically you.

Irene’s approach to style is uniform yet creative. She believes in building a capsule wardrobe of classic, high-quality pieces and letting accessories take center stage. Accessories are a “conversation starter that reflect your personality,” she says, and her impeccable eye for detail proves it. Whether it’s a luxurious scarf, a statement piece of jewelry, or a perfectly crafted clutch, Irene’s accessories demonstrate that the investment approach to dressing doesn’t stop at clothing. Instead, it extends to the finishing touches that have the power to elevate your wardrobe and establish a sense of individuality. And lucky for us, she’s sharing her best insights into choosing accessories below.

Essential Accessories: Irene Chen’s 7 Picks to Elevate Your Style

Irene’s top accessories reflect her belief that they are a powerful way to tell your story. These are the seven pieces that transform a simple outfit into something extraordinary, allowing you to step out feeling polished and undeniably chic. Whether you’re new to accessorizing or already a devotee, Irene’s thoughtful selections will inspire you to invest in pieces that you’ll treasure for years to come.

1. Bandanas and Scarves

According to Chen, a scarf or bandana is much more than just an essential accessory, it’s a statement of refined ease. “A luxurious scarf or a beautifully crafted bandana can elevate your entire look,” she shares. “It’s that subtle touch of refinement that adds a layer of sophistication and completes your outfit with an air of effortless elegance.”

2. Belts

Chen believes that belts have a transformative power to level up everyday looks, which is why they rank so highly on her list of essentials. “It can take something basic, like jeans and a t-shirt, and make it look so much more finished and put-together,” she says. “It’s really like a secret weapon for your wardrobe—one of those little details that makes a big difference.”

3. Statement Jewelry

Statement jewelry is an opportunity to communicate who you are, offering an effortless means of expression. As Chen puts it, “It’s a way to make a lasting impression.” Whether it’s a striking necklace, a curated stack of rings, or a pair of bold earrings, these essential accessories hold the power to transform an outfit.

4. Bag Charms

“I add charms to my bag because it’s a cool way to personalize it and make it feel like it truly belongs to me,” Chen explains. They become an essential accessory when they’re treated as a tangible representation of the memories that shape us. “Each charm holds a special meaning,” she says. “They all tell a story and bring back happy memories every time I see them.”

When it comes to styling, she embraces the creative freedom charms offer. “I like to mix and match different charms to create a unique look,” she shares. “I also like to play with different textures and colors to add some visual interest.” By combining personal meaning with playful design, bag charms become a way to showcase both style and the stories that make us who we are.

“Each charm holds a special memory or meaning. They all tell a story and bring back happy memories every time I see them.”

5. A Great Clutch

“A clutch instantly elevates your look, adding a touch of sophistication and refinement,” she says. It’s the an essential accessory for a special occasion or a night out, adding an element of polish. Beyond its style, Chen notes the practical side of a clutch as well. “It is a great way to organize your belongings. You can use it to keep your essentials separate from the rest of your larger bag.” For those times when you’re carrying a larger tote or purse, a clutch provides a functional and stylish way to keep your must-haves easily accessible, while maintaining a streamlined look.

6. A Mini Purse

Mini bags often come off as impractical, but Chen sees this category of bags as an essential accessory because of its potential. “A unique mini bag is a conversation starter that reflects your personality,” she explains. With that understanding, it’s a little piece of art you carry with you.

7. A Great Watch

A classic watch is an essential accessory because it “effortlessly completes your look, whether you’re in jeans and a tee or dressed up,” Chen shares. It’s the perfect companion to your bracelet stack, adding a subtle touch of sparkle and shine that anchors your collection with a sense of elegance. Beyond aesthetics, Chen sees this particular accessory as an investment. “It’s a timeless treasure that can be passed down through generations, carrying with it your own personal history,” she says.

8. Loafers

And finally, let’s not forget that your list of essential accessories need one specific pair of shoes: loafers. “Loafers make any outfit look a little more polished,” Chen affirms. Whether paired with jeans and a button-down or the right skirt or Bermuda shorts, they’re her go-to shoe for effortless style.

Camille Styles cozy winter basics

Between the winter social events, weekend plans, and all the activities that fill our calendars during the coldest months, our plates are full. And while managing a packed schedule can feel overwhelming, I’m excited about having reasons to get dressed up. Thankfully, with a solid capsule wardrobe of heavy-hitting winter basics, your cold-weather mood board is well within reach.

The Best Cozy and Elegant Winter Basics

Our winter basics are those you continue to go back to on a seasonal basis. And sure, in a world of “core” after “core” trend, the idea of finding a timeless piece can feel like a needle-in-a-haystack situation. But don’t worry, no matter the occasion you’re dressing for, these winter basics have you covered.

Weekend Brunch and City Exploring

Every winter weekend deserves at least one day dedicated to catching up with friends over a latte and wandering through your favorite shops. For such occasions, the focus is on comfort while still incorporating pieces that guarantee compliments. A tailored blazer, cozy but flattering pant, and statement accessories complete the formula. It’s easygoing while still garnering a solid spot on your feed.

The Blazer

The trick to selecting a timeless blazer that’ll take you from weekend brunch to evening events is opting for one with structure that still moves with your body. Look for a style with enough give to layer sweaters underneath, but with enough tailoring to elevate even your most casual looks.

The Tailored Pant

A great tailored pant is the ultimate secret weapon in your winter wardrobe—structured enough to look polished, but with enough stretch to keep you comfortable through hours of browsing. The key is finding a high-rise style with a slim or straight leg that skims (not clings to) your curves, ideally in a ponte or wool-blend fabric that holds its shape while feeling as forgiving as your favorite yoga pants.

The Understated Statement Necklace

Forget clunky statement pieces that overwhelm your look. The secret to winter accessorizing is finding a necklace that makes its presence known without stealing the entire show. The ideal piece offers just a hint of sparkle or architectural interest, working as beautifully with a basic tee and blazer as it does with an elevated evening look.

The Statement Bag

‘Tis the season for structured, top-handled bags. Look for one that makes space for the essentials while adding that perfect pop of visual interest to your winter looks. Find a bag with clean lines and interesting details (think: unique hardware or an unexpected texture) that can anchor everything from your casual coffee run outfit to your evening-out ensemble.

The Casual Dinner Party

Dinner parties call for an elevated, comfy look. You want to look put together but also comfortable enough to help in the kitchen, curl up on the couch for after-dinner conversations, and move freely as you mingle with other guests.

The Chunky Sweater

If you want the perfect chunky sweater that walks the line between polished and cozy, look for one with interesting texture or knit patterns that elevates it beyond basic loungewear. The winning formula is an oversized (but not overwhelming) fit in a neutral shade that you can french-tuck into high-waisted pants, creating that effortlessly chic silhouette that works perfectly for intimate dinner gatherings.

The Perfect Jeans

A great pair of jeans is the foundation of your casual dinner party look. Opt for a straight-leg or relaxed fit in a dark wash or black denim to strike the perfect balance between dressed-up and laid-back. Look for a high-rise style with just enough stretch to keep you comfy.

The Cozy Slide

For a dinner party at home, the right footwear is essential. Cozy slides are the perfect choice—they’re easy to slip on and off, polished enough to complement your outfit, and endlessly comfortable. Look for slides in luxe materials like suede or shearling with a supportive sole that keeps you light on your feet.

Cozy Night In

Whether you’re hosting a casual wine and cheese night, settling in for a movie marathon, or treating yourself to a proper self-care evening, your outfit should strike that perfect balance between put-together and supremely comfortable. Choose pieces that make you feel elegant even as you sink into your favorite corner of the couch.

The Cardigan

A cardigan is the ultimate layering piece for a cozy night in—soft, warm, and effortlessly chic. Look for one with an open-front design and a slightly oversized fit.

The Silk Skirt

A silk skirt brings a touch of luxury to your cozy night in, striking that elusive balance between loungewear and elegance. Find one with a bias cut that skims your body for a flattering fit without feeling restrictive. Pair it with your cozy sweater and a sleek bodysuit to keep your outfit effortless yet refined. It’s all about ease while still looking polished enough to feel special.

The Hair Bow

The hair bow is the perfect finishing touch, adding a hint of whimsy and elegance. Opt for one in a luxe fabric like velvet or silk, and choose a size that complements your hairstyle—larger for a statement look, smaller for a delicate accent. Whether you tie it around a loose ponytail, clip it into a soft bun, or use it as a headband, a hair bow elevates even the simplest outfits. Stick to classic shades like black, navy, or blush for a timeless vibe that feels effortlessly chic.

Winter Evening Events

When it comes to winter events, whether it’s a gallery opening, a wine tasting, or a special dinner out, a few materials and textures will instantly elevate your look. I love the impact of velvet-everything. It goes beyond monochromatic and creates an instant, luxurious appeal.

Velvet Everything

Velvet is the quintessential winter fabric, effortlessly combining luxury and warmth. For evening events, embrace head-to-toe velvet or mix and match pieces for a statement look. A velvet blazer can be paired with tailored trousers or layered over a slip dress for an elegant twist. Velvet pants are both sophisticated and comfortable, offering an elevated alternative to jeans or standard trousers. And of course, a velvet dress is a showstopper on its own—look for rich jewel tones or classic black to capture the season’s glamour. The key to pulling off velvet-everything? Balance with sleek accessories and subtle textures to let the fabric shine.

A Fur Topper

This is the ultimate way to add drama and warmth to your winter evening look. Whether you opt for faux or vintage fur, the key is choosing a piece that feels both glamorous and versatile. A cropped fur jacket or cape pairs perfectly with a sleek dress or tailored velvet pants, while a full-length coat makes a bold statement. Stick to neutral tones like cream, black, or camel for timeless appeal, or go bold with a rich jewel tone for extra impact.

Metallic Accessories

Metallic accessories are the easiest way to add a touch of glamour to any winter evening look. These pieces catch the light beautifully, creating a festive vibe without feeling overdone. Opt for balance—pair metallics with rich textures like velvet, silk, or fur to keep the look elevated. Whether you prefer bold gold or sleek silver, metallic accessories are the perfect finishing touch for a chic winter ensemble.

Winter Weekend Mornings

For me, winter mornings are all about embracing the season’s invitation to slow down. I’m talking soft loungewear, warm layers, and elevated basics that transition seamlessly from your morning coffee to an afternoon of errands. Whether you’re heading to a yoga class or meeting friends at your favorite café, these pieces will keep you both stylish and comfortable.

Live-In Activewear

Activewear is the ultimate winter weekend uniform—functional, cozy, and effortlessly stylish. Look for high-waisted leggings in luxe fabrics that offer warmth and stretch, paired with a cropped hoodie or oversized crewneck for a balanced silhouette. Neutral tones and muted hues keep the look polished, while textured details like ribbing or quilting add visual interest.

Cute and Comfy Socks

Nothing completes a cozy winter morning outfit quite like a pair of cute, comfy socks. Opt for chunky knit or cashmere-blend styles to keep your feet warm and stylish, whether you’re lounging at home or slipping them into your favorite boots. They’re the perfect finishing touch that makes even the simplest outfit feel thoughtfully put together.
