Work smarter, not harder.

Summer is (almost!) here, and I’ve spent the last couple of weeks transitioning my closet for the new season. What started as a closet cleanout and reorganization mission evolved into a thoughtful evaluation of everything I own—and what holes needed to be filled. With limited storage space, it became clear that every piece I purchased needed to be multi-wear, functional, and a true ten-out-of-ten. Working in fashion, it can also be tempting to overconsume, so I’ve realigned my priorities to build a summer capsule wardrobe that brings intention to my wardrobe

After a huge purge, the coats and boots have made their way to the back of the closet, and I’ve built a 10-piece summer capsule wardrobe full of linen, wovens, and sandals that has taken center stage. I think I’ve finally cracked the code to effortlessly chic summer dressing. The secret? Less truly is more.

The Summer Capsule Wardrobe Checklist

Find out exactly what you need for your summer capsule wardrobe below, and allow your closet to work smarter, not harder in summer 2025.

  1. Simple Sundress
  2. Lightweight Top
  3. Breezy Bottom
  4. Non-Denim Shorts & Skirt
  5. Layering Tee & Tank
  6. White Denim
  7. Everyday Sunglasses
  8. Summery Sandals
  9. Seasonal Straw Bag
  10. Protective Sun Hat

Simple Sundress

For all of the minimalists out there, a solid sundress can be a summer capsule wardrobe in and of itself. A sundress is a one-and-done outfit, is easy to pack on vacation, and keeps you cool while looking effortless. This summer, I’m looking for midi-to-full length sundresses that I can pair with sandals, sneakers, or heels, depending on where I’m headed. I love styling summer sundresses with a statement belt and a thin knit draped over my shoulders to add a bit of depth to the look.

Lightweight Tops

I grew up in Texas, and one of the most difficult things about summer shopping is finding tops that are breathable enough to wear in peak heat. Even though I now live in Los Angeles, I still gravitate toward sleeveless vests, breezy button-downs, and girly blouses that don’t leave me in a puddle of sweat.

Brands like DÔEN, Reformation, and The Great have lots of lightweight and flowy tops that I love to style with denim, linen, and silk all summer long. My favorite top in my summer capsule wardrobe is my linen vest from DISSH, as it’s as cool as a tank top, but feels a little more styled and chic.

Breezy Bottoms

Although I still wear jeans all year round, I’ve been looking to expand my selection of pants with linen and silk pairs for summer. I’ve found that these airy alternatives are not only more comfortable and breathable but exude the laid-back energy that I’m trying to channel this year. (Plus, nothing is worse than a tight pair of jeans on a summer sunburn.) Investing in a trusty pair of white linen pants will be the best thing you can do for yourself this summer. This is the definition of working smarter, not harder—these pants will match every top in your closet.

Non-Denim Shorts & Skirts

While there is nothing wrong with denim shorts and skirts, I personally find them uncomfortable. I know that might be a hot take, but I don’t think I’ve worn my denim shorts in over a year. Instead, I gravitate toward flowy shorts and skirts that aren’t too short or too tight. I find that the more a-line shape a pair of shorts or a skirt has, the more flattering they are on the leg. This year, I’m filling this slot in my summer capsule wardrobe with longer, more tailored shorts and full-length linen skirts.

Layering Tees & Tanks

Every good summer capsule wardrobe starts with one-to-two layering bases. My requirements for layering tees and tanks are that they are long enough to tuck in, are not too tight around my arms, and are thick enough not to show my bra underneath. Once you find a good white or black tee/tank, the outfit possibilities are endless. If you’re looking for a foolproof summer outfit formula, pair one of these white tanks or tees with linen pants, a comfy sandal, a sweater draped over your shoulders, and a raffia bag. Sometimes, simpler is simply better.

White Denim

One of my favorite summer style trends is an all-white look. I’m a sucker for white jeans and a white top with a pop-of-color shoe and bag, so finding a reliable pair of white denim jeans is essential for my summer capsule wardrobe. You can’t go wrong with any cut of white denim, as this is a classic trend that will never go out of style. White denim overalls are also a great summer purchase to style over a white tee or a bikini at the beach. Bonus points for rewearing these pieces into fall and winter—we love a winter white!

Summery Sandals

Summer is the season of sandals, so say goodbye to your favorite boots and hello to biweekly pedicures! Whether you lean toward basic dad sandals or sexy strappy numbers, your choice in sandal should be neutral, comfortable, and durable. It’s easy to be woo-ed by trendy shoes, but a true summer capsule wardrobe sandal is timeless and versatile enough to pair with every item on this list. I look for sandals that are easy to slip on and off for beach days and grassy picnics, and lay flat in a suitcase for all of my summer adventures.

Seasonal Straw Bags

Perhaps my favorite part about summer rolling around is dusting off my woven raffia and straw bags to style all season long. Though this material will be forever reminiscent of my mom’s beach bag growing up, I love that designers have been using raffia in more modern, structured designs, giving the look a laid-back but still trendy feel. Plus, straw is a neutral, so it will match and add a seasonal flare to every outfit you create with this summer capsule wardrobe. From the farmer’s market to the beach and out to dinner, these bags can truly do (and hold) it all.

Protective Sun Hats

When I envision summer chicness, every look is topped off with the perfect floppy sun hat. There’s just something so opulent about a big hat and dark sunglasses that takes a basic summer outfit from simple to sexy. It’s also as functional as it is fashionable, protecting your skin during the sunny days ahead. I’m on the hunt for the perfect neutral raffia sun hat to wear at the beach with bikinis, on long walks in activewear, and everywhere in between. If a full-brim hat isn’t your style, a classic baseball hat adds a cool-girl touch to the summer capsule wardrobe while still covering your face, too.

Everyday Sunglasses

I like to think of sunglasses as the cherry on top of a summer capsule wardrobe: not entirely essential, but a small finishing touch that goes a long way. I went through a phase of purchasing multiple trendy, colorful sunglasses, but after having to pack four pairs of glasses for a three-day trip, I finally said enough is enough and found a well-fitting, neutral pair that goes with everything. Sunglasses also have a tendency to get left on the dinner table or swept into the ocean, so don’t feel like you have to spend a pretty penny on this element of your summer capsule wardrobe. A designer pair of sunglasses is always a fun splurge, but more affordable pairs earn just as many compliments minus the price tag.

From bangles to boat shoes, here's what to know.

If you took a peek at my screen time, you might assume I’m a shopaholic glued to TikTok and Pinterest. And while you wouldn’t be totally wrong, there’s more to the story. In my day job, I spend most of my time scrolling rather than spending, gathering inspiration for upcoming Daily Drills collections—curating trends, analyzing styles, and yes, building a pretty extensive wishlist along the way. After deep-diving into the spring fashion trends of 2025, these 10 items have me hovering over the “add to cart” button.

This season, spring fashion trends are all about self-expression through thoughtful details. Quiet luxury is stepping aside, making room for playful textures, statement accessories, and vibrant touches that feel fresh, yet wearable. The spring color palette blends powdery pastels with earthy neutrals, setting the tone for an outdoorsy, relaxed, and effortlessly cool vibe. So, if you’re looking for a few key pieces to refresh your spring wardrobe, here are the 10 must-have trends I can’t stop thinking about.

Bangles: Bigger the Better

Of all the spring fashion trends in 2025, chunky bangles have become my biggest hyperfixation. I’ve spotted them in everything from bold, heavy hardware to vibrant acrylics—and I love both equally. Personally, I’m super into mixing metals, and stacks of silver and gold bangles together are all over my Pinterest. The perfect statement jewelry for spring, they add instant interest to simple staples like white tees and tanks. And while the weather’s still in that in-between phase, try layering them over your jacket or sweater sleeves. They’ll hold the scrunch perfectly while adding a stylish touch.

Everything-But-The-Boat Shoes

While I may not have the yacht to match, I’ll definitely be adding a pair of boat shoes to my wardrobe this season. As someone who despises flip-flops but loves the convenience of a shoe I can easily slip off at the beach, boat shoes feel like the perfect solution. There’s something effortlessly cool about this trend—like a style secret only the IYKYK crowd will appreciate. When it comes to styling, I see them taking the place of my leather ballet flats from fall—meaning they’ll go with just about everything. From classic nautical looks with white linen to casual combos like boxer shorts and a tee, boat shoes are the shoes of spring 2025.

Jewelry For Your Hair

This spring fashion trend might seem extra at first, but trust me—it’s anything but. Hair cuffs are the ultimate lazy-girl hack for bad hair days. Whenever my hair feels greasy or just won’t cooperate, I throw it into a simple braid, add a cuff or two, and instantly look and feel more polished. It’s a small detail that makes it seem like I put way more thought into my look than I actually did. Try a rubber band with a built-in cuff to elevate your everyday ponytail, or add smaller cuffs to intricate styles for some additional fun. Whether you’re dressing for a black-tie event, a casual tee-and-jeans day, or heading to the beach, a hair cuff is an easy, affordable way to elevate your look with a touch of thoughtful detail.

City-Girl Barn Jackets

The countryside chic trend of 2024 brought barn jackets into the spotlight last spring, and they’re sticking around this year with a fresh, modern twist. Designers are elevating these timeless pieces with details like intricate collars and cinched silhouettes, ensuring they stay relevant and stylish. These subtle updates push barn jackets beyond quiet luxury, embracing the bold energy of modern maximalism—a trend I’m personally thrilled about (more on that later!). I love styling a jacket that can hold its own with a simple monochrome base, but these elevated basics are versatile enough to pair with everything from sundresses to jeans.

Sporty Chic

From stirrup leggings to designer track shorts, athleisure is blending seamlessly with street style this spring. Gone are the days when workout wear was confined to the gym—designers and influencers are giving comfy classics an elevated twist, making them more than suitable for everyday wear. Some of my favorite spring looks pair stirrup leggings with kitten heels or nylon shorts with cozy knits, proving that sporty pieces can feel just as chic as they are functional. I love styling these pieces in layers—perfect for heading to yoga, then adding a few accessories to take me through the rest of my day.

Butter, Meet Chartreuse

When analyzing and predicting trends in my 9-to-5, one of the biggest patterns I track is color evolution. When a shade gains popularity, it rarely disappears overnight—instead, it gradually shifts into a fresh yet familiar tone. For example, the bold reds of fall 2024 have softened into deep burgundy for fall 2025, and last year’s buttery yellow is evolving into a muted, yellow-green chartreuse for spring. While this earthy-yet-springy shade might take some warming up to, it’s the perfect transitional pop of color for the season. Start with a handbag or accessory, then build up to a statement skirt or dress when you’re ready to fully embrace the golden shade.

In the Cropped Trenches

Trends may come and go, but trench coats will always be the ultimate spring layer. While last year was all about full-length styles, this season, their shorter (and arguably more flattering) little sister is the main character. I’ve always felt a bit dramatic reaching for a full-length trench, so I’m excited to embrace this more understated, easy-to-wear cropped version. Perfect for everyday errands with leggings and loafers or casual lunches with jeans and sneakers, it’s a versatile piece that fits effortlessly into any wardrobe. Plus, if you’re traveling a lot this spring, like I am, the cropped style is a total win—taking up far less space in your suitcase.

Layers Are Sheer To Stay

Sheer organza layers have been dominating trends for the past year, and they’re not going anywhere for spring 2025. One staple piece? Paper-thin layers of sheer fabric draped over mini skirts—a perfect transitional staple. They give you the flirty look of a mini skirt without exposing any pre-summer-tan pale legs. I love pairing sheer layers with an oversized tee and sneakers for a laid-back daytime look or styling them with a structured blazer and slingbacks for an effortless evening look. You can also go for a fully sheer organza piece as a chic cover-up for any tropical getaway you have on the calendar.

(Literally) Your Grandma’s Brooch

One trend that might not require any purchase at all: accessorizing with vintage or vintage-inspired brooches. These timeless pieces add a unique, personal touch to any outfit—and they often come with a story to tell. Try pinning one on a crisp white tee or denim jacket for an unexpected detail on a casual look, or swap a traditional bag charm for a brooch to give your handbags new life. Since this trend is making a comeback, consider this your sign to make a day of it. Reach out to your mom or grandma and ask if they have any brooches they’d be willing to share. Not only will you score some one-of-a-kind pieces, but you’ll also create special memories with your most stylish loved ones.

cha

More Than a Twinge of Fringe

Some fashion trends quietly sneak onto my radar, and before I know it, they’re everywhere—and that’s exactly what happened with fringe. After obsessing over a photo of Courtney Grow in a vintage fringe jacket, I started noticing fringe everywhere. From jackets to skirts to handbags, this playful texture is an easy way to add movement and interest to your spring wardrobe. While suede is the most common material for fringe, try lighter, softer shades for a transitional look that still adds a touch of warmth. Denim fringe is another great option that gives this trend a fresh, seasonal spin.

One of the most challenging—and exciting—parts of working on the design and production side of fashion is anticipating what people will want months in advance. We’re constantly analyzing trends, forecasting colors, and making decisions long before they hit the shelves. So when the 2025 fashion color palette finally starts appearing on runways and in stores, it feels like watching a vision come to life. This year, it’s all about powdery pastels, earthy neutrals, and a striking, sophisticated brown—Pantone’s newly crowned Color of the Year. From olive green to off-white, these are the wearable hues you’ll soon see everywhere, from handbags to shoes to dresses.

It’s a process that reminds me of The Devil Wears Prada’s iconic cerulean blue monologue—proof that the shades we see in our closets aren’t random. I’ve rounded up the best of the best from 2025’s color story, and trust me, these are shades you’ll want to wear on repeat.

2025 Fashion Color Palette: How To Style It

Pale Pink

This season’s take on pink leans powdery and sophisticated—less Barbie bubblegum, more effortless chic. The beauty of this shade lies in its versatility. It’s soft enough to feel understated, yet bold enough to make an impact. As a subtle statement color, pale pink fits seamlessly into any wardrobe, bringing the right balance of femininity and modernity.

If pink feels too girly for your style, try incorporating it into a tailored blazer or structured trousers for an unexpected edge. Pair it with chocolate browns and greys for the remainder of winter, then transition to cream or white as the weather warms.

Eggshell Ecru

Though boyfriends and husbands everywhere might say this shade is simply “white,” ecru is the ultimate wear-with-anything color, all about that warm, creamy eggshell tone. Softer than stark white but just as versatile, it’s the color of easy elegance—whether in a structured wool coat now or breezy linen trousers come summer. This neutral plays well with every shade in the 2025 fashion color palette, making it a foundation piece for effortless, elevated dressing.

Earthy Olive

Earthy olive green tones are a fresh alternative to classic neutrals in 2025. While neon “brat” green made a splash in 2024, this season’s take is rich and slightly muted—channeling a dirty martini, with warm undertones that make it effortlessly wearable. Whether in an oversized utility jacket, slouchy trousers, or a sleek leather handbag, this deep green adds depth without overpowering.

If you typically gravitate toward brown tones, consider swapping in olive green for a modern, unexpected twist. It’s a shade that seamlessly transitions from season to season depending on how you wear it, securing its place in the 2025 fashion color palette.

Powder Blue

Another pastel taking over in 2025, powder blue is fresh, airy, and just pale enough to feel like a neutral. A softer, more wearable take on traditional baby blue, its cool undertones and barely-there quality bring a lightness to this year’s palette. It pairs effortlessly with denim for an easy everyday look and contrasts beautifully against ecru and crisp white. Yet, it’s subtle enough for a full monochrome moment without feeling overwhelming. Whether in a breezy sundress, tailored slacks, or a cozy sweater, powder blue is timeless yet perfectly on-trend, adding a breath of fresh air to any wardrobe.

Mocha Mousse

Mocha Mousse, Pantone’s 2025 Color of the Year, is bringing warmth and richness to this year’s fashion color palette. This deep, comforting brown has been described as expressing “thoughtful indulgence”—which, coincidentally, is my motto when it comes to fashion.

Its versatility makes it a go-to neutral, effortlessly pairing with everything from soft pastels to deep jewel tones. Whether in luxe leather bags, structured outerwear, or sleek knitwear, Mocha Mousse adds understated polish to any look. Lately, I’ve been loving tonal brown outfits, mixing Mocha Mousse with rich cocoa and soft sand shades—proof that brown is anything but boring in 2025.

Deep Burgundy

Deep Burgundy is taking center stage in 2025, replacing last year’s cherry red with a richer, moodier adaptation. Shades of red have been evolving—2023 was all about bright, fire-engine hues, 2024 leaned into deeper cherry tones, and now, we’re seeing a shift toward a super-rich, merlot-inspired burgundy that almost leans plum. Sultry and sophisticated, it’s the perfect pop of color for accessories like bags and shoes. I even have a phone case in this shade. Instantly elevating any outfit and adding depth, burgundy is proof that red will always be in style, just with a fresh, modern twist.

While I’m still manifesting my New York Fashion Week invite, for now, my front row seat is a digital one—scrolling endlessly through the influencer fashion trends taking over my feed. Honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way. With every swipe, it feels like the influencers and editors of the moment are curating 2025’s biggest fashion moments just for me.

The takeaway? This year, fashion is all about ease, confidence, and a little bold self-expression. These trends strike that perfect balance between aspirational and wearable—small shifts that bring a fresh perspective to your closet. And if there’s one thing I hope you take away, it’s this: you don’t need a Fashion Week invite to experiment with your style. Whether it’s a statement accessory or a refined everyday staple, these trends prove that even the simplest updates can make a big impact.

Let’s break down the top 10 influencer fashion trends 2025 has to offer. Below, I’ve rounded up the best pieces to shop so you can make them your own.
image above from our interview with Mary Ralph Bradley, by Michelle Nash.

Stirring Up Athleisure

Stirrup leggings are my current fashion hyperfixation. While Alix Earle may be making a case for skinny jeans, I’m all in on the elongating, effortlessly polished look of these sleek leggings—especially when paired with a slingback heel or loafer. And the best part? They’re leggings, so while you can style them up like Hannah Lovey,  they work double time in your closet. A sculpting pair of stirrup leggings easily transitions from an actual workout to a casual-chic brunch outfit with the right layers. Toss on an oversized blazer or a structured knit, and you’re suddenly in quiet luxury territory without sacrificing an ounce of comfort. Think of this influencer fashion trend as elevated loungewear 2.0. It’s a natural evolution after years of living in sweatpants.

Head Case Study

Headscarves and balaclavas are taking center stage, bringing a ’60s-inspired, European-chic touch to modern dressing. A simple yet impactful accessory, these pieces instantly add an air of effortlessness—whether you’re channeling Audrey Hepburn in a convertible or just need a practical (and stylish) solution for a bad hair day. This influencer fashion trend 2025 is functional as it is fashionable. If you’re somewhere cold, opt for a soft cashmere balaclava to keep cozy while looking impossibly chic. Warmer weather? A silk scarf tied under the chin or wrapped around a ponytail adds just the right amount of main-character energy to any outfit.

A Western Love Story

Cowboy boots, wide-brim hats, suede fringe jackets—Western style is no longer just for the wild west. And as a Texas native, I’ve definitely cosplayed this trend when rodeo season rolls around, but this year, I’m bringing my boots into the everyday rotation. The trick to making it feel wearable is to mix one statement piece into your usual wardrobe rather than going full-on cowgirl. A pair of western boots instantly makes denim feel more interesting, while a suede jacket layered over a slip dress adds just the right amount of rugged charm. It’s Western-inspired, but leans more chic than costume.

Nautical Nods

Stripes and boat shoes are making waves (literally), but with a fresh, modern twist. Think effortless and subtly preppy—a look that feels just as fitting for city streets as it does for summer vacation. I view boat shoes as the next evolution of the ballet flat; they’re structured, yet comfortable, offering that perfect blend of casual and refined. Whether paired with relaxed denim or a crisp linen set, they add an easy, put-together touch to any outfit. Meanwhile, stripes serve as the ultimate gateway pattern. They’re bold enough to make a statement but neutral enough to work with everything in your closet.

The Gloves are ON

An accessory that’s as practical as it is polished, gloves are having a serious moment in 2025 fashion. For evening looks, try channelling old-Hollywood glamour with silk elbow-length gloves—perfect for elevating a strapless dress or adding an air of sophistication to a simple slip dress. But gloves aren’t just for special occasions. For everyday wear, try a fun printed pair peeking out from your jacket sleeve to add personality to a simple winter coat. Gloves are proof that sometimes even the smallest details can make the biggest impact.

Into the Wild

If you’re still treating animal prints as statement pieces, consider this your sign to recategorize them as neutrals. In 2025, cheetah, zebra, leopard, and snakeskin are no longer just accents—they’re wardrobe staples. For an easy entry into the trend, start small: a leopard-print belt cinching a blazer, snakeskin boots paired with denim, or a structured zebra-print bag that turns heads in all the right ways. If you’re feeling bolder, a cheetah-print jacket or zebra-striped trousers instantly add depth and dimension to your look. And if you’re really ready to embrace the wild side, don’t be afraid to mix prints. Pairing different patterns together creates an effortlessly cool, editorial feel.

Still Sheer

Sheer fabrics continue their reign in 2025, proving that delicate, airy textures can be both sexy and wearable. Mesh tops, organza skirts, and chiffon layers bring a soft, ethereal quality to everyday dressing while remaining endlessly versatile. For a more understated take on the trend, try layering a sheer blouse over a fitted tank for just a hint of translucence. If you’re ready to fully lean in, pair a sheer maxi dress or skirt with a slip coverage of your choice—full length, or barely-there like Courtney. It’s all about layering, contrast, and finding the perfect balance for your comfort zone.

Let’s Brooch the Subject

Your grandma’s jewelry box is officially the place to shop this season, because brooches are making a stylish comeback. These vintage-inspired pins aren’t just accessories—they’re conversation starters, adding a personal, unexpected element to any outfit. Pin a brooch at the collar of a button-down in place of a necklace like Larissa Mills, or use one to secure a scarf draped over your shoulders. You can even attach a cluster of brooches to a structured bag for a unique, collected-over-time aesthetic.

Literal Rose-Colored Glasses

Sunglasses aren’t just for blocking the sun anymore—in 2025, they’re an all-day, every-day accessory. Light-lensed glasses are making a major statement, bringing a funky, vintage-inspired touch to any look. From soft pinks and golden ambers to cool blues and greens, tinted lenses instantly add a playful edge while keeping your outfit feeling intentional and put-together. And if you want to blend fashion with function, opt for a pair with blue light-blocking lenses, so you’re protecting your eyes and looking eye-catching. If you love accessorizing with sunnies, this is the perfect trend to try, because unlike your usual dark lenses, these don’t have to come off when you step indoors.

Wearable Art

Minimalist dressing meets maximalist accessorizing with this year’s most creative trend: wearable art. Sculptural accessories are breathing new life into capsule wardrobes, proving that a single statement piece can transform even the simplest outfit into something unforgettable. Think bold, architectural earrings that feel like mini sculptures, geometric handbags that double as conversation starters, and multiple belts layered on top of each other. Some designers are even pushing the boundaries of this trend, taking animal prints one step further with animal-shaped handbags—a playful yet elevated twist on statement dressing. But if a puppy purse isn’t your thing, there are endless ways to incorporate this trend. Layer oversized enamel cuffs over the sleeves of your blouse or sweater for a high-fashion touch, or let a dramatic necklace or sculptural clutch be the focal point of your look.

Which of the influencer fashion trends 2025 are you most excited to try?

Labeling something as “trendy” often creates a negative connotation, but trends also serve as meaningful reflections of our time. They visually mark certain moments in our lives (for better or for worse) and can signal a fresh start—especially when it comes to the beauty industry. In honor of the new year ahead, we tapped a stable of beauty world experts and heavy hitters to help us sift through the best and worst of 2024 and source their best bets for 2025 beauty trends. Here’s to a little less lash extensions and DIY Botox and a little more beauty biotech and scalp skincare.

Featured image from our interview with Mary Ralph Bradley by Michelle Nash.

Here are the things that experts predict are here to stay.

More Natural Makeup

On the red carpets and award shows there is a real trend for “skin first” makeup that shows off glowing skin and enhances features. I love the embrace of individuality and not looking like the cookie-cutter “Instagram face.” – Lalais, founder Lita Cunningham

Less Lashes

It feels like many of us are recovering from the era of lash extensions, falsies, and heavy mascara. Don’t get me wrong—I love a bold lash moment, but lately, I’ve been drawn to the everyday look of healthy, natural lashes. Lashes that are curled and defined without being weighed down by layers of product feel so fresh and effortless. It’s also refreshing to finally see people’s eyes—unobstructed by an awning of oversized lashes. My go-to products for achieving this natural look are Sweed Beauty eyelash serum (great for strengthening and growth) and the Tarte eyelash curler. – Candace Marino, “The LA Facialist

Scalp Care

We are closing the gap on how many more steps people are taking in their skincare routine versus their haircare routine. The simple fact is that our scalps age six times faster than the skin on our face. As a trichologist, I see firsthand the way that we are treating our scalps is a big part of this discrepancy. – Jay Small, certified trichologist, celebrity hairstylist, and Co-Founder of Arey

Biotech Skincare

Biotech innovations allow us to harness potent, sustainably sourced ingredients from nature in a way that is both effective and environmentally conscious. The beauty industry’s demand for natural ingredients has historically led to unsustainable harvesting practices, causing deforestation, habitat destruction, and biodiversity loss. Biotechnology offers a sustainable alternative. – Whitney Clarke, founder of Habelo Beauty

“Anti-Aging” Pushback

I loved seeing some pushback against the overconsumption of anti-aging products among Gen Z and Gen Alpha, as well as the growing awareness around the importance of sunscreen. Questioning these generations’ skincare choices was a necessary step toward healthier habits. – Dr. Heather D. Rogers, dermatologist and founder & CEO of Doctor Rogers Skincare

A Healthy Skin Barrier

Maintaining your skin barrier is essential, to not only protect the skin from environmental aggressors but to improve its resilience and hydration level. – Margaret de Heinrich Omorovicza, Co-founder of Omorovicza

SPF Makeup: A New Standard

Estheticians have always been advocates for SPF makeup, but it’s exciting to see this becoming more mainstream. Makeup brands are now creating products that not only protect your skin but also incorporate ingredients that genuinely improve skin health. This shift reflects a growing focus on achieving healthy, radiant skin rather than simply covering it up with makeup, which as a facialist, I LOVE! One standout brand in this category is Ciele Cosmetics. – Candace Marino, “The LA Facialist

Blush is Back

I love that blush is back. I’ve always been a huge fan of blush and never understood why people solely opted for bronzer for so many years. Everyone looks happy, youthful, and chic with the right blush. – Candace Marino, “The LA Facialist

Skin Minimalism

In the past, many of my new clients came in with skin that had been overwhelmed by too many active ingredients, often layered without much thought to compatibility or balance. Thankfully, that’s starting to change. People are becoming more discerning, moving away from following every TikTok-driven craze and focusing instead on what works for their unique skin. It’s refreshing to see consumers reclaiming control of their skincare and prioritizing education over hype. – Matthew Miller, founder of Matthew Miller Skin

Glass Skin

I’ve always been obsessed with the glass skin trend and never want it to fade. There’s something so captivating about a polished, almost reflective complexion that exudes health and radiance. – Candace Marino, “The LA Facialist

Headbands

I love a classic hair accessory. The headband makes everyone look like a supermodel. – Candace Marino, “The LA Facialist

Here’s to hoping that, like our makeup routines, Beauty Tok cleans up its act.

The DIY Skincare Craze

DIY at-home activities like making your own face masks or sunscreen. – Dr. Heather D. Rogers, dermatologist and founder & CEO of Doctor Rogers Skincare

To that end… Matthew Miller notes: Skincare formulation is a science, and a complex one at that. Professionals spend years studying how to create products that are not only effective but also safe. This involves everything from preserving formulations properly to rigorous safety and efficacy testing. DIY skincare often overlooks these critical steps. Matthew Miller, founder of Matthew Miller Skin

Salmon Sperm Facial

I mean, need I say more? – Dahlia Devkota, founder of Editrix

Too Many Extensions

Extensions are a fantastic tool, but the overdone, bulky looks with excessive layering seemed unnatural. –  Leo Izquierdo, co-founder of IGK Hair Care

Thin Eyebrows

I’m just traumatized by growing up in the 90s and early 2000s and tweezing the life out of my brows in middle school and high school. – Candace Marino, “The LA Facialist

Beef Talow as a Moisturizer

Enough said.  Dr. Heather D. Rogers, dermatologist and founder & CEO of Doctor Rogers Skincare

Bleached Everything

I was not here for the bleached brows and matching hair.- Chase Kusero, Co-founder of IGK Hair Care

Hair Bows

Everyone wearing bows in their hair: It’s giving cheerleading competition meets Little Bo Peep.  – Candace Marino, “The LA Facialist

For example, slugging caused so many enormous breakouts and stress. While wonderful for some skin types, for oily and acne-prone skin, it can really wreak havoc on our complexion. So many tried it and were devastated with clogged pores and acne breakouts following it. It can sometimes take weeks to correct an issue that took a night or two to create. That can be incredibly frustrating and really wear on your confidence, so it’s unfortunate. – Lalais founder Lita Cunningham

The Teen Skincare Craze

It resulted in loads of unnecessary products being used on youthful skin! I believe less is more for younger skin and that it’s so important to protect the skin barrier. – Stephanie DiPisa, founder of Solara Suncare

Baby Bangs

They’ve always stressed me out. – Jay Small, certified trichologist, celebrity hairstylist, and Co-Founder of Arey

DIY “Botox”

There’s a fine line between innovation and gimmick. Some 2024 trends, like DIY “Botox” from flaxseeds lack scientific validation and can’t deliver meaningful results. Certain procedures, particularly those involving advanced technologies, should be left to trained professionals to ensure efficacy and safety. – Dr. Saami Khalifian from SOM Aesthetics

“Cowboy Copper”

I’m ready to see Cowboy Copper fade out and a stronger embrace of “Penny Lane Copper” take over—think Chappell Roan-inspired tones. –   Renée Valerie, Director, R+COLOR Education

From AI to biohacking, these are the beauty trends worth investing in, per the experts.

Exosomes

With a focus on skin renewal and regeneration, exosomes are quickly rising to the top of my skincare recommendations list. While there’s currently a lot of noise around this type of product, in the coming year, we’re going to see scientifically validated products rising to the top. – Dr. Saami Khalifian from SOM Aesthetics

Simple Skincare

We’ve already cleaned out our pantries and closets, and now we’re moving to the bathroom. People are becoming more selective about the products they use, choosing items that provide long-term benefits rather than chasing the next fad. Skin is healthier for it, but the beauty industry thrives on driving the next buy. My advice? Focus on makeup and fragrance if you want something new—grab a fun lip gloss instead of disrupting a good skincare routine. – Dr. Heather D. Rogers, dermatologist and founder & CEO of Doctor Rogers Skincare

Skin Quality Over Volumization

The U.S. aesthetic market primarily focuses on two things: volumization typically through hyaluronic acid fillers, and control of dynamic motion, typically through Botox. In other countries like Korea, there is a much greater emphasis on skin quality. While volumization and dynamic motion softening are important pillars of a comprehensive approach to aesthetics, skin quality is equally, if not more important. – Dr. Saami Khalifian from SOM Aesthetics

Fewer Tweaks, More Surgery

I anticipate more people choosing surgical procedures over repeated non-invasive treatments like fillers, threads, and skin-tightening devices. Consumers are starting to recognize that the non-invasive route can become a never-ending and costly cycle, sometimes leading to unwanted side effects—such as fat loss from excessive heat-based devices or scar tissue from threads—that ultimately take them further from their goals. Instead, many are opting for surgical solutions that are often more cost-effective and results-driven in the long run. – Candace Marino, “The LA Facialist

A Focus on Regenerative Treatments and Longevity Over Anti-Aging

As functional medicine and lifelong wellness gain importance, I expect to see more emphasis on regenerative treatments that prioritize long-term skin health over quick fixes. – Dr. Heather D. Rogers, dermatologist and founder & CEO of Doctor Rogers Skincare

Medical-Grade Body Products

The days of heavily scented body products are behind us. Instead, we’re seeing a shift toward targeted, corrective skincare for the body. Brands like Epicutis, iS Clinical, and SkinBetter are leading the way with medical-grade formulas designed to firm skin, stimulate collagen, improve elastin, refine texture, and even out skin tone. This trend reflects a new mindset: treating the body with the same level of care and precision as the face. – Candace Marino, “The LA Facialist

Biohacking

Biohacking is going to continue to play an important role in skincare in 2025. We are going to see more results-driven formulations that enhance skin longevity, supporting the skin’s natural functions at a cellular and molecular level. – Margaret de Heinrich Omorovicza, Co-founder of Omorovicza

Sandy Beige Hair

Rich, candlelit brunettes are gaining popularity, as more people recognize the beauty of embracing warmth in their hair rather than trying to eliminate it. –  Renée Valerie, Director, R+COLOR Education

The Tweakment Movement

Patients want to look refreshed, not overdone. In 2025, we’ll see a continued shift toward subtle treatments that enhance natural beauty. Botox and HA fillers will remain key players, but the approach is evolving. – Dr. Saami Khalifian from SOM Aesthetics

AI Skincare Personalization

We’ll also see even more personalization through AI, which is transforming how we approach skincare. At Habelo, we’re leading this shift with SkinMetrics, which uses AI to provide hyper-personalized recommendations tailored to each person’s unique skin needs and goals. – Whitney Clarke, founder of Habelo Beauty

More Beauty Sticks

I believe consumers are increasingly drawn to elevated convenience in their beauty routines, with products like stick formats gaining popularity across skincare, body care, and cosmetics. Their portability and satisfying ease of application make them a perfect fit for an on-the-go lifestyle, while meeting the rising demand for multitasking, simplified routines. – Lillian Tung, Co-Founder and CMO of Fur

Bright Blonde

Bright blondes are definitely on the rise in popularity, and I’m loving it! A more refined golden hue in your blonde adds a stunning shine. – Renée Valerie, Director, R+COLOR Education

Skin Tightening

As semaglutide [Ozempic] continues to scale in accessibility, and more people are reaching their weight loss goals, they are now experiencing hollowed faces, which we saw in 2024. But in 2025, the focus will shift to sagging skin on the neck, arms, and abdomen. – Dr. Saami Khalifian from SOM Aesthetics

More Hair Texture

I think we will see more texture, focusing on natural hair textures. Classic and new shapes and haircuts, but worn with more of people’s unique texture and style. – Ashley Streicher, Celebrity Hairstylist and R+Co Collective Member

The 90s Forever

I expect to see 90s hair trends continue their ascent. Bombshell blowout curls like the famed supermodels of the 90s and straighter blowout looks like Gwyneth Paltrow in the 1998 film Great Expectations. – Julie Chung, Co-Founder of T3

Less Clean, More Science-Backed

I think the conversation will shift from the table stakes of “clean and more sustainable” to efficacy and results. I think it’s possible to check all these boxes, and the brands that do will win repeat customers. – Stephanie DiPisa, founder of Solara Suncare

Artistic Bobs

Think: a great, edgy bob that takes into account your face shape and your individual style, so nobody looks the same. – Garren, Celebrity Stylist and Co-Founder of R+Co

The Chunky Face-Framing Braid

Retro influences meet Gen Z style for an effortlessly cool vibe. This look is best for long hair of all textures. Ask your stylist for chunky braids that frame the face, leaving the rest of the hair loose. Inspo: Hailey Bieber or Vanessa Hudgens. – Leo Izquierdo, Co-founder of IGK Hair Care

Inside-Out Beauty

While this trend has already started, I think it will continue to gain momentum in 2025. We are just beginning to understand the connection between gut health and skin health so ingredients that maintain a healthy gut microbiome will continue to grow. – Dahlia Devkota, founder of Editrix

When someone mentions biohacking, I typically want to roll my eyes. The toxic version looks like space bros and the carnivore diet. But if you look deeper, many biohacking practices are just science-backed wellness habits with a different name.

At its best, biohacking is a combination of ancient wisdom with innovative tech centered on longevity. And the new wave of beauty biohacking tailors these principles to your skin, hair, and overall glow. Often, aesthetic benefits can come alongside health benefits. Beauty biohacking is an intentional practice that keeps you looking and feeling your best for as long as possible.

Experts Uncover the Truth Behind Beauty Biohacking

Beauty biohacking is relatively new, and dermatologists are discovering new ways to promote longevity and vitality on a cellular and aesthetic level. As these innovations are tested, they make their way into products from creams and serums to beauty tech and in-office treatments.

“Beauty biohacking goes beyond traditional health and wellness, appealing to those who want to enhance energy, focus, longevity, anti-aging, and overall well-being,” says Lauren Berlingeri, Co-CEO of HigherDOSE, a brand that has been making biohacking trendy and accessible for years. “I think of it as daily bioindividual lifestyle optimizations, using technology with ancient rituals. Like personalized nutrition plans based on epigenetics or lifestyle adjustments based on bloodwork results or wearable tech biometrics.”

“I think of [beauty biohacking] as daily bioindividual lifestyle optimizations, using technology with ancient rituals.”

To uncover the latest developments in beauty biohacking to help you look and feel your best, I spoke with a range of experts—both dermatologists and beauty brand founders—about what beauty biohacking is, how to implement it into your life, and how to spot misinformation.

What is beauty biohacking?

Beauty biohacking, at its core, is rooted in implementing intentional habits that create a nourishing lifestyle. While the goal is to see changes physically, it starts with addressing internal and external concerns through daily habits that support your body’s functions.

“It’s not just about ‘fixing my face’ with interventionary methods,” says Berlingeri. “It’s about leveraging biohacking techniques to support natural beauty and slow aging at the cellular level.”

Dr. Nathan Newman, a Beverly Hills-based dermatologist, advises that beauty biohacking shouldn’t just be about following trends. Instead, your approach should be “personalized to your specific needs by recruiting your natural repair and regenerative systems to promote healthy skin and hair.”

Why You Should Try Beauty Biohacking

Dr. Shuting Hu, a cosmetic chemist and founder of Acaderma, emphasizes beauty biohacking’s proactive and preventative approach. When it comes to beauty biohacking, targeting your specific skin concerns earlier helps amplify any treatments. For example, if you’re prone to melasma or sun spots, knowing earlier can help you come up with a treatment plan before any negative effects occur.

“By understanding how the skin and body react to certain ingredients and external factors, beauty biohacking allows us to target the root causes rather than just symptoms,” says Dr. Hu. “This can include using products designed to enhance the skin’s natural regeneration process or adopting lifestyle habits that complement and amplify skincare effects.”

Beauty Biohacking Benefits

Beauty biohacking isn’t just about anti-aging—it’s about developing a deeper understanding of your skin. “With the right methods, you can achieve visible results, like improved skin elasticity, hydration, and an overall radiant complexion,” says Dr. Hu.

Dr. Newman cites the following beauty biohacking benefits:

  • Reduced inflammation
  • Rejuvenated skin
  • Faster wound healing
  • Hair growth
  • Natural radiance
  • Increased skin elasticity
  • Boosted collagen production
  • Smoother skin texture
  • Improved overall well-being

“By optimizing biological processes to boost cellular health and resilience to environmental stressors, beauty biohacking addresses the underlying causes of aging rather than merely masking imperfections,” he says.

How to Start Beauty Biohacking at Home

To get the most from this practice, incorporate what works for you into your lifestyle. “By being lifestyle-oriented, you’re more likely to achieve natural beauty that stands the test of time,” says Berlingeri.

If you’re curious about getting started, she recommends starting small, now. “Start with a cold water rinse in the morning to reduce puffiness and tighten pores, followed by a facial massage using a jade roller or your hands to boost circulation and sculpt your face.”

Focusing on hydration—from every angle—helps boost that lit-from-within glow. “Electrolytes, a good hydrating serum, and sleeping with your head elevated to reduce fluid buildup and puffiness,” says Berlingeri.

From new science-backed products to must-try treatments, beauty biohacking is also a way to experiment with the latest the skincare and wellness worlds have to offer. Biohacking can look different for everyone, and it’s about finding what’s right for you.

The Latest Beauty Biohacking Treatments

According to Dr. Newman, the latest beauty biohacking treatments include “collagen-stimulating therapies, light therapy, nutrient supplementation, stem cell-based treatments, and regenerative skincare products.”

In-office beauty biohacking treatments are also gaining traction. Ahead, discover the dermatologist-approved trends worth exploring.

Stem Cell Therapy

Stem cells are self-renewable cells, and they’re making waves in the aesthetics space. Dr. Newman has been using them in beauty treatments for over 20 years in his Stem Cell Lift procedure. Unlike artificial fillers, the procedure enhances cellular health and supports ongoing rejuvenation.

“By harvesting and injecting stem cells from your own fat tissue, this procedure regenerates the tissues as it stimulates collagen production, repairs damaged tissue, and improves skin tone and texture.”

From stem cell serums to microneedling treatments with stem cells, they can be incorporated into many different parts of your routine to boost radiance and turn back the clock.

Collagen-Stimulating Treatments

You might have heard of the vampire facial, which uses samples of your own blood to boost collagen production, repair damaged cells, and enhance elasticity. The secret is Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) and Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF), biohacking methods that use platelets, the body’s natural healing factors, to rejuvenate skin. They are also more effective when paired with exosomes.

“Platelets are the first responders to injury, and thus the best source of messages to respond to an injury,” explains Dr. Mary Lupo, board-certified dermatologist, cosmetic educator, and trainer. In her practice, she uses platelets to improve and renew aging or inflamed skin. Patients see improved texture, decreased redness, and increased dewiness.

Light Therapy

You’ve heard of red light, but that’s not the only way to use light to biohack your beauty routine. Dr. Newman breaks down the nuances between these different types of light.

  • Red light penetrates deeply to stimulate collagen production, reduce inflammation, and improve skin texture, making it popular for anti-aging and healing.
  • Green light focuses on calming and balancing, helping to reduce hyperpigmentation and even out skin tone.
  • Purple light, a combination of red and blue wavelengths, addresses acne and blemishes by reducing bacteria while promoting skin repair and soothing irritation.

Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) Therapy

PEMF Therapy is used in beauty treatments to reduce free radicals and promote relaxation. The low-frequency electromagnetic pulses stimulate skin rejuvenation and overall wellness. This non-invasive treatment can be used for everything from chronic pain to depression.

Hot & Cold Therapy

Hot and cold therapies are, no pun intended, super hot right now. Both treatments popular for biohacking because they’re super accessible. Anyone can start their day with a cold shower or work up a sweat. As a beauty biohacking method, they’re great for detoxification and glowing skin all over. If you want to take it up a notch, Dr. Newman explains what to try.

  • Infrared Saunas. These saunas use infrared light to penetrate the skin, promoting detoxification, improving circulation, and enhancing skin health.
  • Cryotherapy. Exposing the body or face to sub-zero temperatures can reduce puffiness, enhance circulation, and tighten pores.
  • Cold Plunge. Cold plunging (immersion in cold water) triggers the release of endorphins and norepinephrine which can boost mood, increase mental clarity, strengthen the immune system, support fat loss by activating brown fat, and enhance overall energy levels.

Dr. Newman advises consulting a doctor before trying hot and cold therapy as both treatments are not for everyone.

Supplements and Nutrients

According to Dr. Newman, “Antioxidants (vitamin C), mitochondrial support (NAD+), and senolytics (quercetin) are popular in beauty biohacking for their role in supporting skin structure and fighting oxidative damage.” Dr. Hu is also a fan of NAD+, which is one of the latest wellness and beauty biohacking trends. “NAD+ treatments help boost cellular repair and slow visible aging signs,” she says. Supplements are an easy way to ease into beauty biohacking by supporting your body and optimizing your glow.

Molly Sims wearing the best fall blazers

If you know me, you know how much I love a good blazer. Whether I’m throwing one over tailored trousers for the office, styling it with lived-in denim for weekend errands, or wearing it as a top with shorts for dinner with friends, a well-cut blazer never fails to make me feel pulled together. And now that cooler temps have (finally) arrived, the best fall blazers pull double duty as the perfect layering piece that adds both warmth and style to any look.

This season’s selection of blazers does not disappoint. Want to know which have earned a permanent spot in my fall rotation? Read on for my curated list of the season’s 10 best fall blazers.

Featured image from our interview with Molly Sims by Michelle Nash.

The 5 Best Fall Blazers in My Current Rotation

Best Oversized Blazer: ANINE BING Quinn Blazer

The cut, the color, and the weight of the ANINE BING Quinn Blazer make this piece my top pick for the best fall blazers. It had a permanent spot at the top of my fall fashion wishlist for months before I finally made it mine, and trust me when I say it is 100% worth the splurge. It’s perfectly oversized (I’m wearing the size medium but could have done a small), but is still light enough to wear over t-shirts and sweaters alike. The green khaki color suits my skin tone well, but it also comes in black, taupe, and a few patterns. This blazer will be in my wardrobe forever, and I’ve already styled it with everything from boxer shorts to heels.

Best Affordable Blazer: Target Wild Fable™ Women’s Oversized Blazer

If you’re not quite ready to invest in an oversized blazer, the Wild Fable™ blazer from Target is an ideal affordable option—and you won’t even be skimping on style. I’m wearing the size small and this jacket looks great with everything from a white tee to that blazer-no-pants look I love. If the oversized look isn’t your thing, I’ve found that this blazer looks super chic cinched at the waist with a black belt. It’s also a super light fabric, so while this is definitely one of the best fall blazers, it’s undoubtedly a year-round staple.

Best Lapelless Blazer: ASTR the Label Bellmere Jacket

The Bellmere Jacket takes the cake for lapelless blazers because it can be styled so many different ways. I originally fell in love with the jacket styled as a set with its matching skirt and a turtleneck, but I’ve found myself wearing it as a top with nothing underneath, and it’s the cutest fall fit. I purchased the size small for a slimmer look. The warm camel color pairs well with denim and winter whites, the wool blend is not at all itchy, and the split detail after the buttons has a super flattering effect. And because it can be worn as a jacket and a top, it’s basically a 2-for-1! A no brainer for fall fashion.

Most Unique Blazer: Helsa Recycled Twill S Curve Jacket

I’ve been eying the Helsa S Curve Jacket since the first time it dropped, and my willpower officially collapsed this fall when I made the purchase. From the second I pulled it out of the box and tried it on, I knew I made the right decision. I’m wearing a size small and my waist has never looked so snatched in a jacket. The dramatic shoulder coupled with the hourglass shape is most definitely a conversation starter. I’m planning on styling this blazer with mini shorts and black tights for the holidays, but will be living in it paired with simple blue jeans until then. I’ve been into warm winter whites for fall, but it also comes in black and houndstooth (which I’m actively trying to convince myself I don’t also need now!).

Best Fitted Blazer: Aritzia Babaton Standout Blazer

I first saw this Aritzia blazer on my boss, who also happens to be one of the most fashionable people I know, and I immediately added it to cart and checked out. While I’m typically an oversized girl, the tailored look is on trend for Fall 2024 and this purchase perfectly rounded out my collection of the best fall blazers. Though not quite as dramatic in shape, this is also a similar, more affordable alternative to the Helsa S Curve Blazer. While the color I’m wearing is currently sold out, I’m in the size 4 and eyeing the olive, cocoa, and plaid versions next.

More Fall Blazers We Love

Christie Jacket

Loving this jacket, but obsessed with this styling—this is my favorite hack for making an oversized blazer more flattering.

Future Collective Women’s Nipped Waist Blazer

Target does it again. A great alternative to high-fashion blazers with a unique single button.

Jenni Kayne Jones Blazer

I’ve never tried Jenni Kayne outerwear that I didn’t love and there’s something so chic and elevated about this double breasted blazer.

J.Crew Vivienne Faux Leather Blazer

J.Crew has most definitely nailed the art of the blazer, and this faux leather version is no exception. This might have to be my next conquest.

Double-Breasted Blazer

Chocolate brown is the color of fall, and this houndstooth blazer is the perfect pop of pattern to complement the shade.

Herringbone Wool Flannel Crop Blazer

If you want a boxy, but not too oversized fit, look no further than this cropped blazer. A perfect meet-in-the-middle piece!

There's still time to be the cutest one at the party.

If you’re anything like me, this post isn’t for you—because your Halloween costume ideas were locked in sometime back in July. But if you’re one of those sane, busy adults juggling work, life, and everything in between, you might find yourself scrambling for last-minute Halloween costumes as spooky season sneaks up. No judgment—we’ve all been there.

10 Last-Minute Halloween Costumes That Are Anything But Basic

The good news? We’ve rounded up the easiest, most versatile last-minute Halloween costumes to take the stress out of getting festive. Whether you’re heading to a party, trick-or-treating with kids, or just need something quick for the office potluck, these ideas are designed to spark inspiration without the hassle.

So don’t sweat it—there’s still time to find a costume that’ll have you looking clever, creative, and ready to celebrate. Scroll through our top picks, RSVP “yes” to that invite, and let the Halloween magic begin!

Cruella De Vil

The style of this Disney villain is timeless. There are a few components that can make or break this costume, one of which is the infamous black-and-white wig. There are plenty of options online, but make sure it’s a wig you’ll be able to style to your liking. And if you choose a faux fur coat that hits the mark but still keeps things subtle, you might even be able to make it a winter staple. All you need to finish the look is a red dress, a classic red lip, and a bit of dramatic costume makeup.

Edna and Jack Jack

Even as a child, there were always families throughout my neighborhood dressed as the Incredibles. However, if you’re not into the whole bodysuit situation, dressing up as Edna with (or without) your little one as Jack Jack is much easier than running to your local Spirit Halloween for an uncomfortable polyester outfit. Simply grab an oversized black button-down, a pair of tall black boots, and a black bob, and you’re good to go! Bonus points if you’re a regular glasses-wearer—it makes this last-minute look all the easier to throw together.

Risky Business

Perhaps an overdone Halloween outfit—but one that never seems to get old—is Tom Cruise’s dance scene outfit from Risky Business. It doesn’t get much easier than this outfit, with an oversized button-down and tall white socks. Wearing shorts and a cute bralette underneath can make this outfit public-appropriate while staying true to the widely known look. This closet-staple costume is perfect for anyone in a pinch.

Mia Thermopolis

Anyone else psyched about the recently announced The Princess Diaries 3!? All Mia Thermopolis fans can agree that this last-minute Halloween costume will get everyone excited and invoke a sense of nostalgia. Everyone has a tiara and a simple white strapless dress lying around somewhere, and the slick-back bun is very much in now. All you need is a pair of inexpensive over-the-ear headphones, and you’ve got a princess of Genovia.

Rosie the Riveter

There’s no going wrong with this last-minute Halloween costume. Rosie the Riveter will always make this list for the sole fact that the costume only really takes three elements—jeans, a jean shirt, and a cherry red paisley bandana. A pair of blue jeans is a staple in almost everyone’s closet, making this costume one that can be thrown together for under $50.

Audrey Hepburn

The Audrey Hepburn look never gets old. Whether you dress up for a Breakfast at Tiffany’s-themed party or simply dress to impress, this costume doesn’t take much forethought if you have an LBD on hand. Grab yourself a pair of rectangle sunglasses, pearls, and satin black gloves to pair with your looks, and BAM—a star is born.

Elle Woods

Not to spoil my Halloween costume for everyone, but Elle Woods is undoubtedly one of the best last-minute Halloween costumes. If you have any hot pink activewear in your closet, grab a pink handbag and your picture-perfect pet to channel everyone’s favorite Harvard law grad. Everyone will ask how you came up with such an easy and chic costume idea. (What? Like it’s hard?).

Taylor Swift

Yes, I know—there are plenty of T-Swift looks you could throw together for a last-minute Halloween costume. If I had to pick one, however, I’d take things back to her Fearless era with a gold fringe dress and white cowgirl boots. With some tight curls or a blonde wig, red lipstick, and dangly gold earrings, you’ll rock any party without going over your Halloween budget.

Peanuts Characters

Whichever characters you, or you and your friends, choose out of the Peanuts bunch, these looks are instantly recognizable and simple to throw together. If you have a plain yellow tee, paint on your black zig-zag stripes and grab your pet for a Charlie and Snoopy look. Or, pick out a royal blue bubble sleeve dress and white ankle socks and channel your inner Lucy van Pelt. The options with this costume category are nearly endless (fun fact—there are over 70 peanuts characters to choose from!).

Pink Panther and Inspector Clouseau

This last-minute Halloween couple costume is highly underrated. Grab your significant other a trench coat and stylish fedora and snag yourself a cute pink bob and a baby pink outfit (or vice versa), and let the compliments roll in. Bonus points if you have a magnifying glass and cute pink cat ears to pair with your outfit.

Suede Boots

Suede for fall? So original, I know, but suede boots of all hues are tippy top of my fall fashion wishlist at the moment. From ankle to over-the-knee, a suede boot brings a seasonal flare to every look, effortlessly adding warmth, texture, and depth to even the simplest of outfits. The Row’s Zipped Boot in Suede and Miu Miu’s Suede Boots are some of the most coveted boots of the season, and lucky for us, there is no shortage of more affordable options on the market. But regardless of the price of the boot, be sure to invest in a good suede protector spray to shield your boots from the elements, ensuring your fall footwear remains pristine throughout the season and beyond.

Moto Boots

I recently dubbed moto boots one of the top fashion trends for fall 2024, and while this style isn’t for everyone, you’re bound to see it everywhere. Often adorned with buckles and hardware, these are definitely on the edgier side of the fall boots 2024 spectrum, but are best styled with a bit of contrast. While a full biker-chic look might be the most obvious choice, try pairing your moto boots with a more dainty, girly vibe to turn heads at any fall outing. Not only are moto boots on the pulse this season, they’re sturdy and comfortable enough to take you from the pumpkin patch to a dinner party.

Riding Boots

Riding boots had 13-year-old me in a chokehold, and adult me is happy to see them in the spotlight for fall 2024. Though a true timeless shoe, the rise of sophisticated, tailored, and preppy looks this fall has brought refreshed attention back to riding boots and inspired some fun twists. While classic riding boots remain true to their equestrian roots, this year, designers are bringing new life to the staple with unexpected colors and materials. Exhibit A: this Gucci pair. I’ve recently loved styling riding boots with shorts and an oversized blazer for a chic fall look that’s still cool enough for still warm temps in LA.

Pointed Toe Boots

Pointed toe boots are an unexpected personal favorite of all of the fall boots 2024 has brought thus far. I (literally) dipped my toe into this trend last year with elongated, but still round-toed boots, but after seeing a friend in these fabulous Anine Bing Hilda Boots, consider me a full convert. This chic silhouette not only infuses an outfit with a sophisticated edge, but its leg-lengthening effect is truly unparalleled. Pair them with straight-leg jeans for a polished everyday look or layer them over tights with a mini dress for a more refined ensemble. Either way, don’t knock a pointed toe ‘til you try it.

Statement Boots

While the buckled moto boots or pointed toes might be enough of a statement for some, maximalism is in, and wild, printed boots took over designer FW2024 runways. From bold animal prints to eye-catching metallics, these standout styles effortlessly transform any look. Whether you’re dressing up an all-black outfit for a night out, or adding spunk to jeans and a white tee for brunch, statement boots are the perfect way to express your unique style this fall. Even if you’re more of a minimalist, you can pair leopard print boots with a classic black dress for a pop of personality or style metallic ankle boots with tailored trousers for an edgy, yet polished vibe.

I was recently on a call with our Design Editor, Kristen, who claimed she was entering her “fancy girl era.” Immediately, I wanted to adopt the same mantra—and it’s clear I’m not alone. The pandemic’s resurgence of sweatpants and aughts-centric trends has made way for a new push toward quiet luxury. We want more from our clothes, and as a result, prioritize and invest in pieces that will look good for years to come. Luckily, the best fall basics achieve exactly that, letting you curate an autumn wardrobe you’ll love wearing from now until spring.

I’ve experienced quite the glow-up over the years. And while some of that is the result of a bit more disposable income since graduating college, I’d attribute it mostly to intention. Nowadays, I’m choosing to keep my closet edited down to pieces that align with the three words that describe my personal style: elegant, feminine, and understated. By refining my style goals to what makes me feel most myself, it’s easier to say no to what doesn’t fit.

How to Curate Your Personal Style

My Pinterest style board has become my go-to source of inspiration for these sartorial shifts. I’ve made it a monthly ritual to sift through and delete images that no longer spark joy, while eagerly importing fresh looks from my Instagram saves.

This consistent practice has not only helped me define and evolve my personal aesthetic but has also streamlined my shopping list. The process is simple: gather your favorite inspiration images, crank up a fun playlist, and see how many looks you can recreate with your current fall wardrobe. Trust me, that’s where the best fall basics shine!

The Best Fall Basics to Wear This Season

Go through this process once, and you’ll quickly realize that you need to track down the perfect sweater, jacket, or pair of boots to take your wardrobe to the next level. With this method, I’ve transformed my closet from an uninspired collage of trends to a collection full of the best fall basics and neutral colors that I can endlessly mix and match.

But know this: The perfect closet doesn’t have to be a rigid capsule wardrobe. However, it does have to withstand trends and reflect who you are. With that in mind, keep scrolling for the best fall basics and autumn essentials.

Outerwear

Outerwear can always be a bit tricky during this transitional season. Some days, you might wake up needing your heaviest coat, while on others, you can get by without this outfit topper. I love this year’s obsession with the barn jacket—it’s a classic piece that’s perfect for these not-too-hot, not-too-cold months. In a neutral color, it will layer just as easily over a t-shirt and jeans as on any other fall outfit. Pretend you’re in the British countryside and your wardrobe will take care of the rest.

Of course, every timeless wardrobe also needs a good leather jacket. And while many real-deal picks will set you back hundreds in price, affordable options abound that look even better. Whatever your outerwear selection, consider these pieces your ticket to cool girl fall.

Dresses

Nap dresses are forever, but we love the simple, streamlined ease of a slip dress. To wear mine throughout the year, I simply employ different styling tactics that keep me warm and seasonally appropriate. In the summer, I’ll pair mine with sandals, and in the fall, I like to layer up with tights, a cozy sweater, lug sole boots, and a scarf to top things off. And in this season’s trending chocolate brown? Chef’s (stylist’s) kiss.

A-line dresses are also perfect for fall—reflecting the timeless tailoring and universally flattering shape so many of us are loving right now. Perfect for work, lunch, or a wine night by the fire, these pieces will easily become your go-to. A-line cuts are the ideal mix of flattering and fitted while also being unbelievably comfy. Throw on a pair of statement earrings and you’re all set—this is a one-and-done sort of outfit.

Lastly, every fall’s pièce de résistance: the sweater dress. She’s comfy, she’s flattering and forgiving, and she keeps you warm without looking like you put on every last layer in your closet. Not only do sweater dresses automatically make you look put together, but they take all the effort out of planning an outfit. I love mixing mine with knee-high heeled boots for a casual, yet chic seasonal look.

Tops

Tops can be tricky during a season when we’re all gravitating toward sweaters. But! They also make my favorite fall pastime (layering) so seamless and chic. I love a denim button-down that serves as the topper to the foolproof Canadian tuxedo outfit formula. Or, try one in a fall-appropriate plaid and a fun flourish of detail to add visual interest.

I’m also enjoying asymmetrical tops that flatter every body thanks to the diagonal lines that draw the eye in a way that creates a more streamlined silhouette. Go even bolder with a one-shoulder top—they’re perfect for a date night or dinner out.

Sweaters

When the temperatures begin to dip, I start to crave chunky woven knits. But even during the coziest season of the year, I like to keep my looks streamlined. Cardigans, crewnecks, and my favorite—turtlenecks—are in abundance this time of year. Thankfully, plenty of brands offer styles at a range of prices, putting even the most luxe sweaters in reach. The options I’ve shared below each boast five-star reviews and won’t pill (just be mindful to follow the care instructions to a tee).

I envision cozying up in these sweaters with a full monochromatic look, head to toe. This styling trick makes for a relaxed outfit while still feeling chic, and can look cozy, classy, or sexy depending on how you style it. (Bonus: You’ll reach for it whenever you need an extra layer of comfort when working from home.)

Bottoms

Especially this year, with barrel-leg pants and denim making waves, it’s obvious that trends come and go. However, one shape that lives in my closet forever is a high-waisted, wide-leg pant. I find they’re flattering even on my petite frame (re: they don’t overwhelm me) and pair beautifully with any sweater or top—though I like to go a bit more fitted for visual balance. Depending on the material, they always look chic and are easy to dress up for a night out or a casual look with sneakers and a tee. Trust me: select one of the pairs below and you’re guaranteed to always get compliments.

Shoes

I only buy shoes about once every other season, so I want to know I’m making the right investment. I recently purchased Madewell’s Greta Ballet Flat in red and am obsessed with how the shoe adds a vibrant pop of color to my oftentimes more subdued fall outfits. Similarly, my knee-high boots are a go-to pick with just about everything I’m wearing this time of year. They look perfectly mod paired with a shorter plaid skirt and sweater or cottagecore-chic with my longer, prairie-esque dresses.

Across any shoe style, keeping things classic in the fall will guide you toward a pair that will last you forever. With timelessness as your intention, you’ll be led to shoes that pair beautifully with just about any style or aesthetic.

Accessories

Accessories are so fun in the fall, with the chillier weather letting you pile on scarves and hats with reckless, sartorial abandon. Suede is this season’s hottest material, and I love how it can pop up in a bag, belt, or any detail to let your outfit shine. But if you buy one accessory this season, make it a classic pair of hoops. I’m still loving the silver trend, and everything from Heaven Mayhem will be an instant heirloom. They’ll elevate any outfit you wear this season.

Molly Sims fall 2024 fashion trends.

As the fashion world turns its gaze to the Spring/Summer 2025 runways in New York, London, Milan, and Paris, my eyes are on well-dressed guests showcasing the fall 2024 fashion trends. Street style during this time of year is a masterclass on the season’s most coveted looks, and I’m taking notes. From suede everything to dark denims, my Instagram saves has become a fall trend bucket list that I cannot wait to start ticking off.

This year, the best way I can describe the fall 2024 fashion trends is a return to the basics. When I envision the season’s style, I see 50 shades of brown, well-tailored blazers, chunky knee-high boots, and gorgeous suede bags. The trends taking over my social media and shopping pages happen to reflect exactly that: true, classic fall fashion. Plus, they are all conveniently cohesive, pairing well together while also making a statement on their own.

Shades of Suede

This fall, suede is taking over in the form of bags, boots, blazers, and belts. From buttery soft handbags to sleek warm jackets, this tactile trend is elevating everyday looks with its rich texture and luxurious look. While browns and blacks are the most classic shades of suede, consider making a statement with a deep burgundy or olive green tone. The possibilities are endless, so feel free to make this trend your own.

While suede tends to come at a higher price point, if you’re not looking to invest in such a seasonal fabric, there are plenty of faux-suede options on the market that can achieve the look for less. However, if you are ready to splurge on suede, remember that it’s delicate in nature, so your purchase should also include a good protector spray to keep your pieces pristine through the years.

Everything But the Barn

Allow me to introduce you to the outerwear that’s in everyone’s carts this fall: the barn jacket. Originally made viral by Dôen, this light layer captures the classic countryside, Ralph Lauren aesthetic that is so intrinsically fall. These structured, yet comfortable and casual jackets are popping up on almost every site at every price point, so while capturing this trend might require a purchase, you can decide whether to splurge or save. Bonus points if your husband or dad has a vintage version lying around.

The key to nailing this trend is in the juxtaposition—pair your barn jacket with pieces that create an interesting mix of textures and styles, as seen on Hannah Porter. The neutral colorways of this jacket will go with just about everything, so don’t be afraid to get creative in your closet. I personally can’t wait to style a barn jacket with a pair of white boxer shorts and loafers for a transitional look.

Paint the Town Brown

From rich chocolates to soft tans and everything in between, brown is undeniably the color of the season. Versatile and sophisticated, this is a trend you can comfortably invest in, as the color isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. If you’d typically choose a black coat, sweater, bag, or pair of boots, try opting for brown this year to bring more warmth to your look.

For a monochromatic look that’s anything but monotonous, play with different shades and textures of browns within the same outfit, as Hannah Chody has done so effortlessly. I’m loving the idea of styling a brown silk maxi skirt with a chunky chocolate sweater for an easy fall night out. Accessories are also a great way to dip your toe into this trend. A pair of brown boots or a structured tan handbag can instantly upgrade your existing wardrobe.

Denim on Denim on Denim

The idea of a Canadian tuxedo is by no means new to fall 2024 fashion trends, but it’s getting a high-fashion upgrade this fall. The secret to mastering this trend? Mixing and matching varying shades, washes, and textures to add depth and interest to your outfit. While classically a more casual look, an all-denim fit can be easily elevated by pairing it with more polished pieces like pointed-toe heels, a structured leather bag, or chunky statement jewelry.

Need an outfit styling formula? Start with your favorite pair of jeans, add on a contrasting denim jacket or button-down, and break up the two shades with a simple belt. Throw on a pair of slingbacks and vintage earrings, wear them with confidence and ease, and you’re good to go! Out of all of the fall 2024 fashion trends, this one is effortless and fool-proof.

Boots & Buckles

Moto boots are revving up fall fashion, bringing an edge to everything from flowy dresses to tailored suits. These sturdy, often buckle-adorned boots are no longer reserved for motorcycle enthusiasts—they’re a versatile staple for any fall wardrobe.

For a contrast that works, pair your chunky moto boots with something unexpected like a delicate slip dress or a flowing maxi skirt. Don’t be afraid to play with different heights and styles—ankle-length moto boots work well for day-to-day wear, while knee-high versions make a bold statement for nights out.

Timeless Tailoring

This fall, fashion is embracing the enduring appeal of impeccable tailoring, proving that a well-fitted garment never goes out of style. The focus is on clean lines, precise cuts, and flattering silhouettes that create a classic, polished look. Invest in a perfectly tailored blazer—it’s the cornerstone of this trend and can elevate any outfit. Look for blazers with subtle details like slightly padded shoulders or nipped-in waists to add a contemporary touch to the timeless shape. Pair your blazer with tailored trousers for a sharp suited look, or throw it over a silk slip dress for an elegant evening ensemble.

Remember, the key to nailing this trend is in the details—even a simple white shirt can make a statement when it fits you perfectly. Accessorize your tailored looks with minimalist jewelry and sleek, structured bags to maintain that crisp, put-together aesthetic.

fall nail trends

More than any other season, fall is defined by style. Chunky sweaters, knee-high boots, and layers on layers (on layers). The second a crisp wind blows, I crave knitwear and scarves. And though temps are still high in many places, you can get into the autumn spirit by embracing the fall nail trends we’re obsessing over in 2024.

Fall nail trends are the easiest—and chicest—way to embrace the comfy-cozy mood. There’s something for everyone. You can take the neutral and chocolate tones route that reflects the season’s moody color palette. Or, you can go bold with textural trends like chrome and 3D. Every visit to the salon is a choose-your-own-adventure affair. To get the inside scoop on the emerging fall nail trends, I reached out to Molly Romah, head nail artist at Chillhouse, for her take on what’s hot this season.

Featured image from our interview with Cyndi Ramirez by Belathée Photography.

Social media is abuzz with creative coverage of fall nail trends. Inspiration abounds at every turn. With each post, there’s something new to try and autumnal vibes to capture. Whether you’re looking for manicure photos to show your nail tech or trends to DIY, ahead are the freshest fall nails to change up your look. Read on to get the best fall nail trends right at your fingertips.

1. Cherry Mocha

This nail trend makes its way back into the spotlight every fall and somehow never gets old. Maybe it’s the red nail theory or the stylish yet classy vibe red nails can give off. Whatever the motivation, I always lean into darker, bolder colors during the autumn months. Going with this darker red is always a safe and elegant option.

2. Tonal Taupe

Taupe is an earthy shade that aligns well with the autumn color scheme. Choosing a taupe complementary to your skin tone can elevate your look while keeping your fall nails neutral if bold styles and new trends aren’t your go-to. You can always switch up the style of your taupe nails by adding chrome or keeping them matte.

3. Coffee Tortoise Shell

This may be arguably one of my favorite fall nail trends. Tortoiseshell fashion seems to weave its way in and out of many trends during fall due to its warm color scheme and subtle pattern. I’ve also seen quite a few iterations of this trend emerge already, including tortoiseshell French tips.

4. Negative Space

“Negative space manicures can be symmetrical, off-center, geometric, or oddly shaped,” says Romah. These nails appeal to the minimalists among us and can be done on both short and longer sets, making them adaptable for a variety of nail types. The negative space look also highlights the natural health of your nails with the complements of sophisticated shapes.

5. Colored French Tips

French tips are a year-round classic for any occasion, and these colored tips are always a fabulous option for spicing up the style we know and love. During the fall months, leaning toward a deep brown, red, or navy blue can help match the tones of the season and the shifting seasonal fashion palate.

6. Deep Green

As we transition out of “brat” summer, deep green has taken over the fashion sphere. This includes deep, evergreen nails that look luxurious without going overboard on accents or designs. This color also looks flattering on every skin tone, making for an easy and festive way to spruce up your look.

7. Moscow Mule

I’ve always loved the chrome trend—from glazed donut to Christmas ornament red. Moscow mule nails now take the stage as the next chrome nail obsession. This coppery look attempts to recreate the widely loved Moscow mule glass color with a neutral base and copper or gold chrome.

8. Ombré

While ombré isn’t necessarily a new trend, “these nails can be done in many colors and designs, and can be subtle or bold,” says Romah. This trend leaves plenty of room to experiment with seasonal colors and designs in a way suited to your personal taste.

9. Marble

One of the re-emerging trends on this list, marble nails are making a steady comeback in a new and improved light. Many fall versions of marble nails contain warmer color schemes such as burnt orange and brown, maroon, and navy blue.

10. 3D Art

“3D nail art is very eye-catching and can be a great way to make your nails stand out and add an extra dimension to your look,” says Romah. These nails are bold and may take a bit more time in the salon, but the results can be incredible. Some of the best 3D nails simply elevate your regular nail look by providing texture and line art to traditional designs.

Though a year-round classic, denim is a quintessential piece of a fall capsule wardrobe. As we transition into the cooler months, more often than not, a pair of jeans is the foundation of every outfit I style. This season, designers are reimagining this wardrobe staple in fresh and exciting ways, striking a perfect balance between timeless appeal and contemporary flair. We’ve witnessed the ebb and flow of skinny jeans, the unexpected resurgence of low-rise styles, and even a brief flirtation with capris, but what fall 2024 denim trends will define this season?

Featured image from our interview with Odette Annable by Michelle Nash.

Woman watering garden wearing fall 2024 denim.

I spoke with Grace Na, Founder & Creative Director of LA Denim brand Pistola, to get some inside information on the fall 2024 denim trends taking over the market this season. From standout silhouettes to styling tips, consider this your go-to guide for all things denim this fall.

Grace Na

Grace Na is Founder & Creative Director of LA Denim brand Pistola. Known for their incredible (Greta Gerwig-approved) designs and carried by over 1,000 retailers across the country including Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Shopbop, Pistola is quickly becoming one of the leading voices in the denim market as a female-founded denim brand.

Standout Denim Styles for Fall 2024

While a classic straight-leg jean is always a go-to, fall is the perfect time to have a little fun with different denims. When asked which styles will take over fall 2024 denim trends, Na points to three fashion-forward fits that we’ll be seeing everywhere this season.

  • Barrel/balloon leg denim. This structured silhouette gained popularity in fall of 2023 and isn’t going anywhere. While the exaggerated bow-leg look might seem a little crazy at first, I’ve found that the shape is universally flattering and automatically makes an outfit more interesting.
  • Ultra-wide leg denim. We all know that skinny jeans are rumored to be out, but the total opposite is in for fall 2024. Na explains that comfort is always key when shopping for denim, and jeans are only getting looser and wider this fall. Wide, low-slung, comfortable jeans pair perfectly with a more fitted top for an elevated, yet relaxed night out.
  • Intentionally cuffed denim. Perhaps my favorite of the fall 2024 denim trends, jeans with a large cuff at the bottom are taking over the runways and my Instagram feed. A small and simple detail, this design is perfect for anyone looking to subtly incorporate trendy touches into their fall wardrobe.
Kate Arends wearing fall 2024 denim trends.

An easy answer for Na, dark denim and rinsed classics are her go-to washes for fall. While light and mid-wash jeans can certainly be styled with browns, blacks, and burgundies in fall, a darker, slightly faded color palette will be popular this season. Red is still everywhere, and Na notes that it will continue to trend in ready-to-wear denim in fall 2024.

I couldn’t be more excited to style denim for fall, and Na’s tips will be my guiding principles all season long.

Do:

  1. Wear denim on denim, canadian tuxedos are classics for a reason.
  2. Feel free to mix and match denim washes, it adds depth to an outfit.
  3. Your denim is your denim, don’t be afraid to scissor cut the inseam to fit your height (it’s easier than it seems).

Don’t:

  1. Wear slim bottoms with a slim top, juxtaposition is what makes an outfit fun.
  2. Stick only to the size you normally wear, try on a few sizes to see what fit feels best.
  3. Be afraid to try all of the fun new shapes that are coming out! You might surprise yourself.

If you prefer a skinnier denim silhouette, but don’t want to feel outdated, “slim straight is the new skinny.” Sticking to ankle length, cropped fits, styled with an oversized shirt, jacket, or sweater, is an easy, on-trend fall look that will still make you feel like you.

As for herself, Na will be styling lots of rinsed denim tops and bottoms together and apart this fall. Her go-to is offsetting baggier denim with lots of fitted tops, and finishing off the look with socks and loafers.

Pistola Ryder High Rise Cuffed

If you’re looking for a one-and-done pair of pants to capture all of the fall 2024 denim trends, let it be these. Dark wash, wide leg, and intentionally cuffed, these are the perfect, low-key statement jean.

Rolla’s Gigi Barrel Forever Jeans

Barrel leg denim will be a defining silhouette for fall, and this dark wash pair from Rolla’s has just the right amount of shape. Not too voluminous, yet still ultra-flattering, I can’t wait to style these all season.

Anine Bing Gavin Jean

I’m a firm believer that the girls in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants were wearing the Anine Bing Gavin Jean. They are the perfect happy medium: mid-wash, mid-rise, baggy-but-not-too-baggy, cropped-but-not-too-cropped. If you’re looking for an investment jean that surpasses seasonal trends, these are a 10/10.

Abercrombie High Rise 90s Relaxed Jean

Simultaneously one of the most affordable and best-fitting pairs I own, these Abercrombie jeans are a great option for fall. They’re slim enough to style with chunky knits and wide enough to style with boots. I’ve turned almost all of my friends onto these jeans, so it’s only fair I let you in on the secret, too.

Free People x We The Free Good Luck Mid Rise Jean

Another great affordable option for the barrel leg trend, these Free People jeans have been a staple in my closet since last fall. I love that the dark wash can be dressed up with a pair of heels at night and down with a pair of loafers during the day.

Rolla’s Sailor Jean Long

If you’re looking for a wide-leg jean that is still elevated and tailored, look no further than the Sailor Jean by Rolla’s. I’ll be styling these with a tucked-in white tee and boots quite literally every day this fall. This style does run a bit small, so be sure to size up!

Madewell The Darted Barrel-Leg Jean

These jeans were love at first sight. Everything from the shape to the color to the styling immediately drew me in. With a similar look to the Nili Lotan Shon Pant for a third of the price, these are worth signing up for restock notifications if your size is sold out.

Pistola Lana High Rise Ultra Wide

Off-white is one of my favorite shades for fall styling. These wide leg jeans from Pistola are perfect for pairing with cream knits, chocolate brown suede, and true blue denim tops this season.

SLVRLAKE Taylor Wide Pleated Jeans

SLVRLAKE’s Taylor Wide Pleated Jeans offer a fresh take on classic denim, combining vintage-inspired pleats with a modern wide-leg silhouette. Though definitely on the pricier side, my SLVRLAKE jeans are some of my favorite investments and will be fall staples for years to come.

Levi’s 501 Straight

Sometimes, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Levi’s has been making great, timeless denim for hundreds of years, and these will last in your closet for hundreds of falls to come. Major style points for finding a worn-in, vintage pair of 501s.

AGOLDE Low Slung Baggy

We all know comfort is key when it comes to denim, and these baggy jeans from AGOLDE might as well be sweatpants. Ideal for cozy fall days and nights, these are jeans you can actually live in. I love styling mine with feminine ballet flats to contradict the baggy style. Agolde jeans do run on the larger side, so if you’re in between, I’d take your smaller size.

Reformation Cary Low Rise Slouchy Wide Leg Jeans

Fitted throughout with a wide leg, these slimming jeans are right on the nose for fall 2024 denim trends. This stunning shade of charcoal will be gorgeous styled with black knits and black boots for fall.

Frame The Bubble Jean

These jeans have lived rent free in my mind ever since I saw them styled on an Instagram ad. The wash is such a unique, inky shade of blue, and the bubble shape is flattering, interesting, and fun. The model had the pants cuffed at the bottom, checking off both the barrel and the cuff trends for fall 2024.

Madewell The Rail Straight Jean

While some trends come and go, we all need a classic pair of straight-leg, dark-to-mid-wash jeans for fall. These will go with everything in your wardrobe, will last for years, and won’t break the bank. What more could you ask for in a pair of pants?

Parke Low Rise Baggy Jeans

Touching on both seasonal styles and colors, Parke’s most recent launch is a great place to shop for fall 2024 denim trends. With a matching jacket available, I’m personally eyeing both the red and camel styles… but might just have to get both.

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I am SO ready for fall. Though I consider myself a summer girl through and through, I’m suddenly craving the cozy comfort of my fall routine. My closet, on the other hand, could use some convincing. Not only do sweaters and coats feel less sexy than sundresses and sandals, they also demand quite a bit more real estate in my tiny closet. Enter: Your fall capsule wardrobe for 2024.

By carefully curating a collection of versatile, high-quality pieces that mix and match effortlessly, a fall capsule wardrobe keeps things remarkably simple. It allows you to maximize your style options while minimizing closet clutter, ensuring that every item earns its place. From our favorite chunky sweaters to the It bags of the season, we’ll show you how to create a wardrobe that’s as adaptable as it is trendy.

The Art of Transitional Dressing

As summer fades into fall, mastering the art of transitional dressing becomes key. Before packing your summer capsule wardrobe, consider how many pieces can serve double duty with the right styling. Those breezy button-downs and layering tees you’ve been wearing all summer? Try pairing them with cozy cardigans and dark-wash denim for a more seasonal fall look.

Ready to dip your toes into fall fashion? Try these versatile styling tips:

  • Layer lightweight knits over summer dresses
  • Pair knee-high boots with flowy skirts and shorts
  • Throw a trench coat or blazer over sleeveless tops
  • Swap sandals for loafers or mules
  • Gradually introduce richer textures like suede and corduroy

The best part is that transitioning your closet for winter will be even simpler with fall capsule wardrobe pieces that incorporate both timeless elements and up-to-date trends.

Our Fall 2024 Capsule Wardrobe

This fall capsule wardrobe is all about investing in good basics, and then adding in flares of your own personal style through clever layering and strategic fabric pairings. Here’s all you need to get started:

  1. Straight-Leg Denim
  2. Leather Boots
  3. Lightweight Layer
  4. Suede Bag
  5. Statement Belt
  6. Basic Blazer
  7. Tailored Trouser
  8. Must-Have Sweater
  9. Everyday Loafers
  10. Knit Dress

Straight-Leg Denim

I’m currently working on a deep dive into all things fall denim, but a good pair of straight-leg jeans is the number one piece you need in your fall capsule wardrobe. Shopping for denim is a super personal experience, but I recommend finding straight-leg jeans that are slim enough to be paired with chunky knits and large jackets, but still loose enough to fit boots underneath.

Leather Boots

Whether you lean on a pointed-toe heeled bootie or a chunky-sole Chelsea boot, everyone needs a good pair of leather boots for fall. While you can make do with one pair, if your closet allows, I’d opt for one heeled ankle boot and one flat, to-the-knee boot for super versatile wear. And trust me, all of the boots below were actually made for walking—because who has time for blisters this season?

Lightweight Layer

From suede to khaki to quilted, a lightweight jacket is integral to your fall capsule wardrobe. Your fall jacket should be light enough when worn alone while we wait for temps to drop, but warm enough when layered with a sweater as we head into winter. Have fun with the style here, but trench coats, barn jackets, and vintage-inspired suede coats are great neutral, but still trendy options to invest in.

Suede Bag

Suede is my favorite fall fabric, and a suede purse is the perfect way to incorporate it into my fall capsule wardrobe. Though I drool every time I see a pair of suede shoes, a suede bag feels easier to protect from the unpredictable fall weather. You can’t go wrong with any of these options to round out your fall capsule wardrobe for 2024.

Statement Belt

Now that you have the perfect pair of jeans, it’s time to accessorize with a fun, but still timeless, statement belt. This fall, it’s all about effortless tailoring, and what better way to accentuate your waist than with one of these belts? Watch your favorite denim and white tee pairing take on a new life with this simple styling hack.

Basic Blazer

Although a basic blazer is a staple for me year-round, I consistently gravitate toward blazers every fall. I hate covering up a fabulous outfit with a not-so-fabulous coat, and a good blazer is my favorite way to stay warm while still staying styled. In fall 2024, we’ll see a shift away from oversized blazers in favor of a more tailored look, but I’ll still be wearing all of the above (and below).

Tailored Trouser

As denim shorts are to summer, tailored trousers are to fall. A well-fitting pair of black trousers can be paired with a white t-shirt and sneakers, a sweater and loafers, a blouse and heeled booties, and look effortlessly chic all three ways. Trousers are a bit like denim shorts in that you might have to try before you buy, but once you find a pair that suits you, the fall styling possibilities are endless.

Must-Have Sweater

It’s officially sweater weather, and selecting one to two versatile knits is key elements in your fall capsule wardrobe. The ideal sweater is triple duty: it stands alone as a stylish top, layers effortlessly over button-downs, and fits comfortably under lightweight jackets. When choosing your fall sweaters, pay close attention to the thickness—while a chunky knit is a fun, trendy statement to have in your wardrobe, it can’t be layered as easily as a thinner option. Pro tip: Always check the fabric content when shopping online to gauge itchiness. A wool blend is typically less itchy than 100% wool, and cashmere or cotton sweaters are almost always a safe bet.

Everyday Loafers

While I tend to live in sneakers, I look to loafers for a more elevated look. This fall, a more slim, fitted loafer is gaining popularity, with bonus points for suede options. Loafers tend to get a bad rap in terms of comfort, but I’ve found that once you find the right pair, comfort isn’t even a question. However, I do love styling my loafers with a cute ankle sock to aid in the blister department. And honestly, they’re the perfect finishing touch for any fall outfit.

Knit Dress

Sometimes, you just need a one-and-done outfit, and a knit dress is the easiest wardrobe hack for fall. Accessorize it with a studded belt and a good pair of boots, and voila! You’re ready for the office, brunch, holiday parties, etc.

Every year when fall rolls around, I’m instantly transported back to my childhood days of back-to-school shopping. A shoe enthusiast from a young age, my favorite part of preparing for a new school year was, hands down, finding the perfect pair of sneakers to wear to class. Even now, I find myself eagerly anticipating the moment when I can pick out a fresh pair of sneakers to usher in the new season, capturing that back-to-school essence no matter my age. This fall, I’ve been on a mission to break down all the sneaker trends 2024 has brought thus far, and I think I’ve struck sneaker gold.

Camille Styles wearing fall sneaker trends of 2024

Adidas Sambas were undoubtedly the shoe of 2023, ubiquitously taking over the feet of people across all age groups. And while I still love my Sambas, I think we’re all ready for something a bit more original in 2024. Spoiler alert: there’s not just one it-pair of sneakers this year—there are 10.

Whether you’re a dedicated sneakerhead or simply looking to update your autumn wardrobe, our curated insights into the top sneaker trends of 2024 will ensure your feet are fashion forward. Read on for our tested-and-approved, must-have styles and trends that are shaping the sneaker landscape this fall.

Fit details: I’m a true size 6, but I prefer my sneakers to be a bit roomy.

Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66

Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66

The Onitsuka Tiger brand is by far my favorite sneaker trends 2024 has brought to my attention, and the Mexico 66 sneakers are on my short list of standouts I’ve purchased this year. Featuring a slim shape and a sporty design, these shoes never fail to make every outfit cooler. Comfortable and somehow flattering on the feet, these will continue to be my go-to sneakers into fall. Now I just need to decide on what color to order next. (Pro tip: the sizing is unisex, so be sure to follow the size guide!)

Vince Oasis-W Sneakers

Vince Oasis-W Sneakers

These Vince Sneakers are a bit more of a splurge, but the clean white and grey colorway ensures great cost per wear—these shoes are guaranteed to pair with everything. Definitely the most elevated of the bunch, these sneakers are made with buttery soft leather and complementary suede accents. Suitable for both casual and dressy occasions, these scream quiet luxury. Bonus points for coming with an extra set of interchangeable laces, too.

New Balance® 327 Women's Sneakers

New Balance® 327 Women’s Sneakers

I just purchased my second pair of New Balance 327s because I quite literally wore my first pair into the ground. These sneakers are the definition of athleisure shoes—I wear them with jeans, shorts, workout clothes, and everything in between. Comfy enough to wear on a five-mile walk but cute enough to wear out to lunch, you’ll find yourself reaching for them constantly. Not to mention that the price point can’t be beat.

Tretorn Rawlins Sneakers

Tretorn Rawlins Sneakers

The Tretorn Rawlins 2.0 Sneakers in white, pink, and orange perfectly capture the vibrant color blocking that’s dominating sneaker trends in 2024. These sneakers blend retro charm with modern flair, featuring a sleek silhouette and a mix of leather and canvas uppers. While shopping this week, I found this shade of orange in just about every store, so you can be sure these will pair perfectly with any new fall wardrobe purchases.

Rag & Bone Retro Runner Slim

Rag & Bone Retro Runner Slim

I’ve been eyeing these 70s-inspired sneakers for months, and when they finally went on sale I checked out at lightning speed. The slim silhouette offers a more refined take on the chunky sneaker trend, and the blue and yellow color combination is as surprisingly wearable as it is fun. Exceeding expectations of comfort, these will undoubtedly be a staple in my fall 2024 wardrobe.

Autry Reelwind Sneaker

Autry Reelwind Sneaker

I always love a pop of red, and these Autry sneakers might be my favorite pop yet. Super sporty, yet still sophisticated with suede detailing, these shoes are perfect for any fall outing. With its cushioned insole and durable construction, the Reelwind checks boxes for both style and substance. I’m also obsessed with the American flag in the logo, which adds a fun, retro aesthetic to the sneakers. If a bold red isn’t your thing, no worries—Autry has plenty of neutral colors to shop, as well.

Veja Rio Branco Sneaker

Veja Rio Branco Sneaker

You’re probably most familiar with Veja’s signature Campo Sneakers, but allow me to introduce you to their sportier, cooler sister, the Rio Branco Sneakers. Capturing the feel of your favorite vintage sneakers, I love that these can be styled with both denim and athletic wear. Plus, chocolate brown and lavender might just be my new favorite color combo, inspiring all sorts of fall outfit ideas.

Dolce Vita Dolen Sneakers

Dolce Vita Dolen Sneakers

Denim on denim is one of my favorite evergreen trends, and these knit denim sneakers from Dolce Vita are the perfect way to bring the trend to sneakers. Featuring a uniquely knit body, these shoes almost contour to your feet, are blister-proof, and couldn’t be comfier. I also love that the thick sole gives me an extra inch or two of height, making my legs look long and lean. An excellent budget-friendly alternative to the Chloé Nama Sneakers

Sam Edelman Isabel Sneakers

Sam Edelman Isabel Sneakers

I was originally drawn to these sneakers because they slightly reminded me of the Loewe sneakers (which are at the top of my wishlist but way out of my budget), and seeing them in person did not disappoint. These are purely leisure sneakers and don’t have much cushioning, similar to Adidas Sambas, but they’re still more than comfortable enough for everyday wear. I also have a feeling that the butter yellow trend of spring/summer 2024 might translate into more mustard hues like these sneakers this fall!

Alohas Tb.240 Sneakers

Alohas Tb.240 Sneakers

The Alohas Tb.240 Sneakers are an excellent eco-conscious alternative to Adidas Sambas. The white base is beautifully accented with hints of green detailing, offering a pop of color that’s both tasteful and timeless. These sneakers showcase Alohas’ dedication to sustainable fashion, featuring responsibly sourced materials without compromising on style. It’s worth noting that the leather is a bit stiff at first, but will start to relax after the first few wears.

Catt Sadler closet_health trends 2024

I undeniably suffer from fashion FOMO. If something is trending online, it sets up camp at the forefront of my mind and refuses to leave until it’s in my closet. The allure of trying out the latest fashion craze is irresistible. I can’t help but wonder how a particular trend would look on me, how it would fit into my style, and whether or not it actually lives up to the hype. This often leads me down a rabbit hole of online research, scouring TikTok reviews, and scrolling through countless Pinterest photos for inspiration. Whether it’s a pair of $500 jeans or a designer dupe, I’m always eager to know if a trend is truly deserving of the attention and worthy of the price tag.

But let’s face it, not everything that’s making waves in the fashion world is practical or even remotely realistic for everyday wear. That’s why I’ve taken it upon myself to try out the top 10 trending fashion items of 2024 thus far, and separate the gems from the gimmicks. From statement pieces to subtle wardrobe staples, I’ve tried them all so you don’t have to. Consider this your insider’s guide to navigating the ever-changing landscape of fashion trends, ensuring that your next purchase is not only on-trend but also worth every penny.

So, if you’re ready to satisfy your curiosity without sacrificing your savings, read on to see the 2024 trending fashion items reviewed and find out what’s truly worth adding to your closet.

KHAITE Danielle Jeans

2024 Trend: Designer Denim

I’m on the hunt for the perfect pair of denim, so when the Khaite Danielle Jeans caught fire on social media, I knew I had to try them out for myself. However, it took me a bit to even hit the add to cart button because… they’re $480, which feels wild for denim, even though it is designer. So, in the name of research, I bit the bullet, and when they arrived, I practically had the jeans on my body before the UPS delivery man was down my front steps.

For the price, I was expecting to look in the mirror and see a supermodel staring back at me, but to be completely honest I just saw myself in a solid pair of jeans. They fit well and felt super high-quality, but I just couldn’t justify the price when my Abercrombie and AGOLDE jeans look just as good. Plus, being 5’4”, they were way too long on me. Unless you’re tall or willing to get them hemmed, they might not be the best fit. If you’re into splurging on designer denim, go for it, but there are plenty of other options out there that won’t break the bank.

Some other good options:

Adidas Sambas

2024 Trend: Sporty Sneakers

I bought a pair of red and white Adidas Sambas a few months ago and while they have definitely been one of my most-worn sneakers, I’m not sure I’d recommend purchasing a pair today. I love the look of them, but they’ve just become too widespread and are on their way out of style in my opinion. Plus, they aren’t the most comfortable sneaker. After a few hours of walking, the soles of my feet definitely ache.

If you are in the market for Sambas but want to try something new, the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 sneakers are at the top of my wishlist. Or, if you’re set on Sambas, opt for a more unique colorway, even though you’ll most likely have to deal with a retailer’s surcharge for these.

Some other good options:

Jenni Kayne Cooper Cardigan

2024 Trend: Corpcore

The Jenni Kayne Cooper Cardigan is proof that if you see something enough, it becomes all you can think about. This cardigan was the #1 advertisement that my Instagram algorithm served me for weeks on end, and when I decided to review the top 2024 trending items in fashion, I knew it was a sign to finally make it mine.

As advertised, the Cooper Cardigan features a very flattering and structured hourglass shape, which you’d never expect from a typical sweater. It’s simultaneously unique and timeless—a combo that is difficult to achieve these days. The wool cashmere blend is thick, warm, and most importantly, itch-free. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve found an amazing sweater only for it to feel like it gave me a case of the chicken pocks, but the Cooper Cardigan is so soft, I want to curl up and sleep with it. Retailing for $525, this sweater is definitely an investment piece, but if you take care of it, it’ll be something you’ll have forever.

Some other good options:

Dorsey Tennis Necklace

2024 Trend: Elegant, Everyday Jewelry

All of my favorite influencers, like Courtney Grow and Lilly Sisto, wear and love Dorsey jewelry, so even before this order arrived, I knew I was going to love it. If you’re unfamiliar with the brand, Dorsey creates “elegant jewelry for everyday wear,” and is most well-known for their lab-grown sapphire tennis necklaces and bracelets, which have the look of real diamonds at a more affordable price point. My personal favorite piece is the James Bezel Riviére Necklace, but I ordered the bracelet version to get a feel for the product, and it’s honestly perfect.

I have two other tennis bracelets made with real diamonds, and the Dorsey bracelet looks virtually identical, completing my wrist stack for a quarter of the price. I have heard a few reports of some gold chipping off after time, but in my opinion, jewelry is meant to be lived in, and the chips show character. These pieces also make great gifts for spoiling your loved ones on a budget! In the words of Benjamin Barry in How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days, I’m always looking to “frost myself,” so Dorsey is my new favorite discovery.

Some other good options:

Alaïa Ballerina Flats

2024 Trend: Mesh Ballet Flats

Luxury fashion house Alaïa took the ballet flat trend one step further with uniquely shaped studded and mesh renditions—AKA the cool-girl-shoe dominating my social media feeds. It seems like every chic creator that I follow on social media owns a version of this shoe, so, eager to join in, I headed to Saks Fifth Avenue to try them for myself.

Unfortunately, my curiosity was met by a smug sales associate informing me that their stock flew off the shelves, and all they had left was a singular size 8. Wanting to at least get a sense for the shoe, I pulled the strap as tight as it could go and did a loop around the shoe floor. Despite the exquisite leather and stunning studs, they didn’t offer much more than the H&M pair I was wearing that day. With budget-friendly alternatives flooding the market, splurging on these is not a must to stay on trend. For those considering designer ballet flats, classics from Chanel or Prada might be a wiser investment.

Some other good options:

DISSH Linen Set

2024 Trend: Linen Matching Sets

If you’re trying to figure out where you recognize the name DISSH, it’s probably because their beautiful advertisements have graced your Instagram feed a time or two. I’m a sucker for an Instagram ad, but am always wary about the accuracy of the ad and the quality of the item, so the first time that I ordered from DISSH, I was blown away.

Their coordinating linen sets surpassed all of my expectations and are just about the only thing I want to wear. The linen is thick and structured, while still comfortable and breathable, making these sets the perfect summer uniform. Plus, the pricing is pretty hard to beat. My love for this brand tripled when I visited their retail store in Bondi, Australia and got to experience their other products in person for the first time. So, the next time you see DISSH on your Instagram feed, don’t even hesitate. These sets are 100% worth the hype and make summer dressing simple. I’ll be a customer for life.

Some other good options:

Heaven Mayhem Earrings

2024 Trend: 80s-Style Jewelry

Founded by influencer Pia Mance, Heaven Mayhem gained virality this year for the 80s-inspired, vintage-looking earrings that grace the ears of every fashionable person I follow. While I wear most of my jewelry all day every day, I love to swap out my earrings for a statement pair, so Heaven Mayhem was at the top of my list to try.

I ordered the two-tone Mini Double Knot Earrings because I’ve been wanting to incorporate more silver metals into my collection, and these have been my most-worn earrings of 2024 by far. The design is hollow, so they aren’t too heavy, and they have yet to irritate my semi-sensitive ears. They complete every outfit and give me that coveted I-dug-through-trays-at-a-thrift-store look without the effort of the hunt. The brand also offers trendy belts that are most definitely on my list to try next.

Some other good options:

House of CB Samaria Corset Drop Waist Dress

2024 Trend: Drop-Waist Dresses

Before you judge this dress from the product page, I encourage you to watch this TikTok of Sara Walker. Her original video went viral and this dress was dubbed the perfect wedding guest dress. Featuring a super flattering and on-trend drop-waist silhouette at an affordable price point, I obviously had to see if this dress lived up to the buzz.

To preface my review, I was blessed/cursed with a larger chest. I was excited to see that House of CB offers different cup sizes for the bodice of the dress, and while the dress technically fit me, I’m not sure that I’d feel comfortable wearing it to a wedding if you know what I mean. However, I’ve had multiple friends wear this dress and look drop dead gorgeous, so it’s definitely worth a try. I loved the style and ended up purchasing a similar dress from Staud that passed the chest test and helped scratch the itch for this trend.

Some other good options:

Anthropologie Brigitte Satchel by Melie Bianco

2024 Trend: Hobo Bags

It’s pretty rare when a dupe gains more traction than the original, but because of the price, this Melie Bianco purse flew off the shelves after the first launch and onto the shoulders of just about everyone I know. Inspired by the design of the Bottega Jodie bag, The Brigitte Satchel by Melie Bianco is a high-quality, well-made bag, without the designer upcharge.

The Intrecciato is very comparable to a legit Bottega bag, as well, with the primary difference between the two bags being that the Melie Bianco version is not as sturdy—but I almost prefer the slouchiness! Plus, the best thing about a lower-priced bag is that you can opt for a fun color, rather than stressing out over choosing a classic color that you won’t grow tired of. It also comes in three sizes: mini, midsize, and oversized (the oversized would be a super chic work bag!). If you’ve been wanting to hop on the Hobo bag trend, this is a great budget-friendly option with an even better cost-per-wear, as it’ll become your new go-to catch-all bag.

Some other good options:

Tiffany Elsa Peretti® Small Bone Cuff

2024 Trend: Silver Jewelry

Silver jewelry is having a resurgence in 2024, and arguably the most popular piece of silver jewelry right now is the Elsa Peretti Small Bone Cuff from Tiffany & Co. Spotted on the wrists of every trendsetter around LA, this cuff is by no means new to the scene. It’s a classic that’s making a comeback. When I went home for Christmas, my mom was cleaning out her jewelry drawer and I could not believe my luck as she pulled out her old, scratched up Bone Cuff. She generously lent it to me, and I’m unsure if she will ever get it back.

This piece adds the perfect edge to any look and is definitely a conversation starting piece. The Tiffany cuff obviously comes with a pretty large price tag, but there are plenty of available secondhand options on sites like The RealReal, and of course, plenty of dupes. However, its enduring popularity is proof that this cuff stands the test of time, and investing in the real deal might pay off years from now when your daughter asks to borrow (steals) it from you. If you’re considering pulling the trigger on the Bone Cuff, I would recommend trying it on in-store before purchasing. Ensuring the size is right will determine how comfortable it is, and for the price, you want it to feel perfect.
